Hyunjae was dead.

It was the heart wrenching truth that his lover heard over a mere phone call. The delicate boy froze like a statue, his blood ran cold as soon as he heard those words.

On the busy sidewalk, Chanhee had came to a full halt. His grip on his phone went slack, the expensive screen shattering into millions of pieces the moment it met with the cement below the boy.

Time might have Haden moving like underwater to the boy, but the world wasn't stopping. Seoul was still busy, and the blonde was shoved by another person trying to get to their job.

The frail figure's gaze was blank as he stared off into the distance. Being in that moment of shock, the poor boy was still processing what he was just told. His own umbrella was black, he didn't even acknowledge the water pouring down around him, or anything else for that matter. The bitter feeling in his chest and the sting in his eyes gave him all the clues he needed.

He was crying.

It felt like his heart was on fire, burning in agony. He fell to the floor, the cold water seeping into his skinny jeans. Chanhee felt the sob get ripped out of his throat and the dam broke. He let go. The tears came down harder than before, sobs racked his body, the numb feeling started to seep in, mixing with the anger and sadness.

With a shaky hand, he reached out and scooped the phone up. He held the broken device to his chest, breathing became harder, as his nose started to clog up. The hot tears that ran down his cheeks stained themselves a blotchy pink, the sticky feeling made him want to bawl even more.

The gloomy grey sky was like a blanket, the rain turning the cheerful city monochrome, a sea of mundane grays, black and dull blue.

A soft hand patted his back and he turned around, his glossy eyes looking up and locking with chocolate brown ones. It was Haknyeon and someone else, Chanhee blinked his tears away and tried to identify the mystery boy.

Oh, his boyfriend.

That sent another wave of pain through his chest, another broken sob escaping his mouth. He didn't even register the fact that they were calling his name, "Hee, Chanhee."

He snapped out of his daze and looked up at them with glassy eyes. The two had no idea what had happened, but after witnessing the boy in such as state, they simultaneously wrapped the blonde in a loving hug.

"Chanhee, what's wrong?" Haknyeon asked in a soft voice. The concern in his own and Sunwoo's eyes grew even more as they saw the heartbroken boy shake. Chanhee sniffed, the tears kept falling like an endless river.

They got no answer and Sunwoo sighed, silently handed the ravenette the all their shopping bags. He scooped up their sobbing friend, surprised at how light he was. "Chanhee-ah, is it okay if we take you back to our home?"

The blonde subconsciously nodded, in the state he was in, he could barely contemplate anything that was happening. The last place he wanted to be was in his apartment, the one he shares—shared— with Hyunjae.

"Yeah," He croaked out, burying his face in his small hands. The shock hadn't worn off yet, everything had yet to sink in.

It had to be some sick joke...right?

He stared at the shattered screen of his iPhone, not even wanting to turn it on. The lock screen was a picture of him and Hyunjae. Everything seemed to remind him of his lover.

Haknyeon could feel the pain radiating off the smaller, worriedly glancing at him from time to time. It was odd to see Chanhee out without Hyunjae sticking to him like glue. His boyfriend seemed to think so too, Sunwoo and himself exchanging looks of concern.
