Back in hell, Juyeon was mulling over his decision.

He saw Bobby when he got back and immediately walked up to his brother, slapping him with all his might. They were siblings so no one cared except for the boy who got slapped.

"That's for killing an innocent human." the navy haired scoffed and left, marching up to his room.

Juyeon sighed and messed up his hair, it had been days since they sealed the deal and the month was ticking away. Everyday he spent the night at Chanhee's, letting Hyunjae care for his lover, and everyday he became more confused. He didn't know what to trust.

His heart? Or his mind?

The couple had begun to grow on him, Hyunjae following him around and the two chatting whenever they went back to hell. Hyunjae had a bubbly personality and loved talking, which contrasted with Juyeon's quiet personality.

"Juyeonieeeee~" Hyunjae rolled over on the sofa and looked at the elder who was in deep thought.

Juyeon sighed but said nothing more.

-

It was the second to last day before Chanhee would have to start risking his life. And it was the day it hit Juyeon too.

He loved Chanhee and Hyunjae.

The dread creeping up in his throat convinced him as he rasped out, "Give me a second." The devil jogged away from the ghost and looked at his reflection in a broken mirror. "I'm a horrible being..." he leaned heavily against the sink, wings drooping.

The couple was so nice and welcoming; always cheering him up, whether it be the long conversations he and Hyunjae would have while Chanhee was sleeping between them, or when Chanhee eagerly showed him around town, checking out new shops, picking up trinkets, taking long walks together.

He was disgusting.

Juyeon knew he was a devil, but even he was starting to doubt whether or not this was a good idea. He walked out again and saw the brunette's concerned face, "You okay?"

"Yeah..." he nodded and sat down, the other's gaze draped over him like a blanket. "I'm fine, really."

That night when he headed over to help the blonde sleep, he made up his mind, "Chanhee... I'm letting you and Hyunjae go. You don't need to do anything, consider it a gift."

He felt his heart cover itself in ice, trying to keep itself to together. Juyeon felt a harsh pain in his chest as his head mused to himself. So this was what heartbreak felt like.

Juyeon let the younger fall asleep in his embrace, and as usual held out a hand for Hyunjae. But this time was different. He had set Hyunjae free, he would be human again by sunrise, even without Juyeon.

He realized the familiar weight in his lap wouldn't be there tomorrow. Neither would the laughter, or long talks with Hyunjae. Or the long nights he spent in this room. The coffee or tea he had in the morning before leaving.

Today was the last time that would ever be happening.

He felt the whirlpool of emotions storming inside himself and capped the bottle, knowing it would overflow when he was alone. Juyeon bit his lip, his wings embracing the two a little tighter. He didn't want to be selfish but he wanted to comfort the two until the very end. He wished for their happy ever after.

Even if it meant he would have to suffer.

His mother had always called him selfless, told him he had a big heart that could turn on him. Maybe his mom was right. Juyeon watched the clock tick, counting the minutes before it was all over.

This would've been a simple fever dream to him. As the hours passed, Hyunjae became warmer, and by 5 am he was fully human once again. Juyeon saw the joy in the brunette's eyes as he touched his own face feeling the warmth emit from his skin. The sunrise had started and the two who were awake watched it together.

"Thank you," the former ghost whispered, giving the devil a small peck on the cheek. Juyeon nodded, the ice he had coated around his heart was starting to shatter.

It was just the beginning. Chanhee was going to wake up in a few hours and he would be nothing. Their life would go back to normal and so would his. Juyeon realized the only reason he was here was to replace a wrongdoing with good.

That was it.

Soon enough, the blonde boy woke up. Chanhee looked around and saw Hyunjae wrapped around him, giving him a lazy smile.

"It's too early to cry," the brunette whispered and wiped the tears off his lover's face. Chanhee looked around trying to find Juyeon.

"He left already."

The boy felt his heart sink, "Oh..."

Hyunjae had lied. Juyeon was watching them, but he told the younger to say he left, it made saying goodbye just a little easier. Besides, this was their moment, and he didn't want to ruin it.

"I'm so glad your back," Chanhee whispered and turned around, kissing the brunette.

"I am too," Hyunjae muttered after they pulled apart.

Juyeon took that as his cue to leave and launched off the balcony, soaring over Seoul. He was invisible so he didn't bother hiding anything, he just needed to get far away.

The ravenette knew he made the right decision but it hurt. He felt the tears run down his face. The unfamiliar tears.

He hadn't cried in centuries, and here he was, crying like a weakling. He perched himself on a tall mountain overlooking the city, and cried to himself.

Juyeon needed privacy, and the cold clouds were like a blanket. Wrapping him in their cold embrace.

"It'll get better."
