"Fresh water may cost more than gold. But no price is too high for us to help the citizens of Donghai. The De Clan is proud to supply water.." The announcer said over an intercom.
Courtney was going around the city, taking notes at the things she was seeing. It was her job to write a story about the water shortage in Donghai. "I've never been to a city like this before in my life. Some would say you don't have to, as all cities are the same. It's two sorts of people living in two sorts of places. In one place, the trees and grass are so green that it's like every leaf was soaked in water. But in the other place.. It's unfortunately the opposite." She thought to herself.
"There's no more water today. Go home." A man explained as he was locking up a water supply pump. "But, sir, I have a water coin. Can I have some?" A little girl pleaded with the man, holding up the coin in her hand. "Look, no more." He tried telling her, tapping on the gauge which signaled there wasn't anymore. After closing and locking the gate, he turned around to find the girl still standing there, holding up her water coin. She just didn't understand what was really going on. "Come back tomorrow." He said, smacking the coin out of her hand.
"It shouldn't be like this. But it seems it's always been this way. I still believe that things can be different." She thought to herself again.
As she began to make her way home, something caused water to gush out of the machine. People were frantically trying to fill their buckets with as much water as possible.
As she made her way back home, she put her notebook and pen back into her bag, and began to fiddle with her necklace a bit, mostly due to her nervousness, hoping it would help calm her nerves. You see, she's had this necklace for as long as she could possibly remember, so it means a lot to her and wears it everywhere she goes. Seeing as how it was late at night and she was a young woman walking home alone, she paid very close attention to her surroundings, hoping no one would try anything and hoped she'd be okay. She didn't mean to stay out this long, she meant to go home hours ago. She guesses it was due to losing track of time.
That's when she finds herself having to wait for some trucks to go by so she can continue her walk home. She almost didn't notice there was another person standing there, seemingly waiting on the trucks too. She just tried minding her own business, as she just wanted to get home as soon as possible. "That's a nice necklace you got there ." The stranger said, getting her attention. She looked over at the stranger in question to find he was a male, seemingly older than her by a couple years. He had a scar on his lip and another under his eyes, going across his nose, under his eyes. She looks back in front of her, before just replying with, "Thank you.." This stranger makes his way closer to her, getting a closer look at the necklace. "Hmm. Name your price for it. I'm sure I can afford it." He mumbled, just loud enough for her to hear.
When she saw her chance to get in between 2 trucks, she made a run for it, her gut telling her he was bad news. He just scoffs, watching her run off. 'She's not gonna get away that easily..' he thought to himself.
