New Gods: Wang Jing Reborn (Courkong Story) [INDEFINITE HIATUS]

Chapter Four

Vito had returned to his hidden lair, to report his failure to his boss, Tatum. Vito was the Tatum's right hand man, so it would make sense he would do as she asked to begin with. 

Tatum was still at her desk, processing what Vito had told her, taking a sip of her wine. "It doesn't surprise me, your total defeat.." She mumbled, loud enough for Vito to hear. "I know we failed, but Tatum please let me be the one to defeat and catch her for you. I started this, let me be the one to finish it!" Vito retorted with, not watching his tone. To this, Tatum just chuckles, "You say you can defeat him." She sets her glass down as she now walks towards Vito. Nervous, Vito tries backing away, only for Tatum to grab a hold of his shirt and knee him in the chest, sending him flying a couple feet in front of her. He gets up on his knees, coughing as she nears him again. Fearing she'd hurt him again, Vito tries backing away a bit. Tatum holds her hand out to him, as if she's gonna help him up, and he hesitantly goes to take her hand on for her to grab him by his wrist and pull him back up. After doing so, she showed what looked to be an old scar on her arm. 

"Tatum, he hurt you too?" Vito asked, thinking back to the Masked Man from earlier that night. "No, I got this from, a friend of his, long ago." Tatum replied. "Me, the ruler of androids and cyborgs. Even after being reincarnated into this android body, I haven't fully recovered. She is a terrible foe. Her power is incredible and she shows almost no mercy in battle. She's killed gods and demons alike, men, women, children, she doesn't care. She would kill her own parents without thinking." She explained to Vito, even though most of what she was saying were lies, she just had to get Vito to believe them. She threw Vito back down to the ground, "Her name is Wang Jing." 

Vito pauses, recognizing that name, "But the stories of Wang Jing tell that she--" Before he could even finish, he's cut off by Tatum, "The stories you heard then were lies!" She yelled, "She may seem all kind and innocent now, but just you wait.. She'll get you when you least expect it!" She knew he'd believe her, who else would he believe? 

~Cut to Courtney arriving at the Masked Man's home~ 

As she entered, looking around, she couldn't help but notice tiny monkeys wandering around the place. As she tried to get a closer look at them, they got scared, and tried running away, to no avail. 

"Oh, look who the cat dragged in." A voice said from above. Courtney looked up to discover it was the Masked Man himself. "Why'd you call me Wang Jing?" She asked, hoping to get straight to the point. "Oh, because that's who you are!" The Masked Man exclaimed, before sighing and asking, "When you were a kid, did anyone tell you about the story of Wang Jing and the Demon Queen?" 

"Yeah, I heard that story, shortly after moving here." Courtney answered. "Well, you are that Wang Jing!" The Masked Man exclaimed, now swinging on a chain as he continued, "Most people know you are the quiet, gentle, patient, yet stubborn Wang Jing! But then there're others who know you as a chaos-creating, insufferably arrogant Wang Jing because of false stories told of you!" He finally sits down in front of Courtney, "So, what's up, Wang Jing?" Courtney just looked at him confused, wondering how she could be someone who existed thousands of years ago. The Masked Man, noticing this, continues, swinging up on some chains again to what looks to be a casino game "With each reincarnation, you get a new name and identity, new parents, siblings, friends, and, basically, play a few rounds at the character casino." 

"Tatum, the android ruler, was the Demon Queen and Vito West, that little bastard, was her son and is now her second in command!

"So in a past life, she killed me?" Vito asked, looking angry and surprised. "I used all my powers to forge you a steel spine and bring you back to life. But the injury wiped away all memories of your past life." Tatum replied with, making her way to him again. 

"3,000 years ago, myself and another demon united, and forced Wang Jing kill herself for her crimes. But even after her death, a part of her soul escaped our trap to be reincarnated again and again. Most everyone believe Wang Jing was a kind and gentle goddess, but only a few know the truth." She explained, lying to him yet again. "So for 3,000 years, I've been protecting this world by myself. If myself or my other minions suspect anyone to be her reincarnation, we makes sure the person dies. It's the only way to keep us safe."
