Varians Secret pt 2 of WHTM

Varian sat in Hugo's arms, while he just betrayed them, Hugo was giving him the strength he needed to tell Nuru and Young about his terrible past. He never wanted them to know about it becasue he knew if they found out he would look at him diffrently. They would see the monster that took over, they would see the criminal he was.
"What are characteristics you would use to describe me?" He asked. He wanted to show them how wrong they were, that whatever they thought was incorrect.
"Fun"
"Loving"
"Brave"
"Selfless" Varian scoffs at the one Young said.
" serious when need be"
"But always caring for others" the two said, oh if they only knew. Varian shook his head.
"I'm not, I'm non of those things. I've done terrible things that deserve to have me still locked up" Hugo squeeze Varian's hand while the other two backed up a little, seeing this killed Varian.
"I've- I've hurt people, good people, kind people. I hurt my friends. Rapunzel, Eugene, everyone. I needed help and they weren't there. I was mad, confused and terrified and I channeled all that emotion to anger. I stole the sun drop flower, I kidnapped the Queen, build these atomatos and almost k-killed a few people. Obviously I got arrested, then I helped Saporians take over Corona when Rapunzel was out on her adventure" Hugo hugged Varian as Varian sank into Hugo's chest and cried. The two others took in what Varian said. They couldn't see Varian in that way. Sure they only knew him for a few moths, but him almost killing someone, when he has risked his life to safe themself's didnt make sense. Was he only trying to make up for the mistakes he has done, were they only pons in his plan.
"Who are you then, you said you were friends with Prinsess Rapunzel, you said you were the royal engineer" Nuru questioned.
Varian took a deep breath.
"Raps is really big on redemption, she knew that I wasnt a kid who wanted to hurt people, she knew I wasnt someone who was this villian. That I had something bad happen to me and she wasn't there and I went on this evil rampage. Thats why I understand Hugo, thats why I understand that calling him out on what he did isn't helpful becasue he already knows it. All it does is sink into your skin and hurt you mentally. The guards told me time and time agian that I was an evil kid who deserved worse then being locked up. Few days in I regretted what I did becasue I had time to think about what happend. I wasnt staring at my father in amber every second of everyday. They kept repeating it over and over. Rapunzel dosnt know this becasue I know she would walk up to those guards and give them an ear full. Which is the worse thing she can do, but also the worse thing that can happen to you." Young, the youngest at age only twelve, who was the first person to meet Varian walked up to him while he was still in Hugos arms. Young has idealized Varian sience the moment they meant. He was in aw in how well Varian knew alchemy and was such a good engineer. It was like all Varian had to do was imagine it and then it would be created. The first time they meet Varian saved his life, he was playing with fireworks and he quickly stopped the explosion with a few of his chem balls.
"Varian, I dont care what you have done in the past, the past is what makes us who we are. The past is why you are so selfless, and caring, its the reason why you are willing to forgive Hugo so fast. You dont want your past to define you and you dont want Hugo's mistake to define him"
"That was really insitful for a twelve year old" Nuru said crossing her arms.
"So your telling me I risk my life for a criminal not just that but an attempted murder, and someone who was planing on betraying us" Nure was the one taking it the hardest. Hugo glared at Nuru, could she not see how much pain he was in.
"NURU THATS ENOUGH! Cant you see he regrets it"
"Thats not why I'm mad, I'm mad becasue he didnt tell us"
"HE DIDN'T TELL YOU BECAUSE HE WAS AFRAID YOU WOULD ACT LIKE THIS!" Hugo yelled at her. He was getting tired of this.
"Nuru, you are being a little dramatic, I mean how many times has Varian saved us?. I dont care what he did in the past, ya nor does Rapunzel, so why do you?" Young pipped in.
"I guess, maybe becasue I find it shocking that someone as nice and kind as Varian could do something so terrible. I'm shocked, I dont understand how it happend." Varian looked at her, tears stopped shedding but clearly still hurt.
"If you want me to tell you the whole story I will tell you, there will be parts where you will hate me, despise me, and maybe you will want to never talk to me again and I get it". Varian never went this far deep with his emotions when it came to the whole villian thing. Hugo knew parts of the story, he knew Varian felt descusted by his actions but he never would have guessed it went this far deep. It was like the strong brave kid he knew was a front, just like his own arragence. So Varian told them the story, from the black rocks, Raps asking for help, the amber, how he felt betrayed and alone, from Rapunzels birthday party, the truth cookies, all the way to helping the Saporians take over.
"The only reason why I helped them is becasue they said they can make the King and Queen forget. I asked if they could make everyone forget and they said they didnt know and wanted to know if I wanted to help. I only helped because if I could get them all to forget what I did then we could all be friends again". That last part hurt Nuru, she realized he felt that there was no way from comming back to where he was, that he needed to start over.
"I was just"
"Angry, and rightfully so, you were fourteen, those are a lot of emotions to handle or anyone let alone a fourteen year old with no one to flush them out with. Its not all your fault Varain" Hugo said kissing the top of his head. Nuru and Young smirked at eachother, that was the first time the two showed physical affection towards each other.
"I should have learned, I should have understood that our stories are similar in some ways. I am so sorry I hurt you, I'm sorry I betrayed your trust. Can you forgive me?" He asked the other two, he knewVarian forgave him.
"Yes, however trust dose need to be earned again. It can start by treating Varian right" the two boys looked at her odd.
"You both like eachother, just date, we are tired to watching you two flirt with eachother and walk on egg shells trying not to embarrass yourself". The two boys blushed.
"First we need to get out of this cage." Nure said.
"I got it" Varian yelled. He through a flynolium ball at the bars and it exploded. The four kids ran out to run after Doenella
