The sound of heels on the tiled floor alerted Melanie of someone's presence, the strange woman who entered earlier like she owned the house. She couldn't help but be slightly annoyed at the woman's audacity but softened when she considered the option that she could be his mother. However, there were no resemblance except they both had striking blue eyes and hers were shades darker. She shrugged.
She felt her curiosity piqued though when she heard the woman made her way towards her in the kitchen but pretended not to notice and cut vegetables. The woman cleared her throat behind her and she dropped the knife and slowly turned to face her. She tried so hard to make her face blank and not show any sign of irritation as she didn't know who the woman was to Toby.
"So you're Melanie." The woman said in a smooth deep voice which she found quite intimidating and too deep for a woman but she nodded anyways, standing straight.
She raised her chin and tried to look taller by standing on her tiptoe but even at that her head didn't go pass the woman's shoulder. It's really depressing to be this short. She thought.
Then the woman did something she definitely was not expecting. She was expecting something of the lines "leave my son alone blah blah" but was shocked to the home marrow when the woman pulled her into a warm embrace. She then kissed the crown of her head in a motherly manner making a blush rise to Melanie's cheeks.
Huh? What's going on here. Her mind was in utter confusion and was put in more confusion when the woman started murmuring nonsense.
"You've healed him! Thank you so much. God, I thought he was going to die childless. Thanks so so much, Melanie. You have no idea how much you've made me and his mom happy."
Oh, if she wasn't his mum then who the fuck was she?
She decided not to be rude, after all the woman had done no harm to her. She opened her mouth to speak but was cut short by Toby's booming voice.
"Aunt, what the fuck are you doing? Are you planning to suffocate her? Let her be." He groaned more when his aunt placed a sloppy kiss on Melanie's cheek.
She then took Melanie to the bar stool and sat her down. Dragging Toby after her she made him sit beside her so they were facing each other.
"So now Toby, tell her what you told me in your room." She said giving him a daring look. Toby glared at her and shrugged as if it wasn't a big deal but everyone could see it was.
"I-i said I l-liked her." He stuttered

Melanie couldn't erase the smile that had been plastered to her face since Toby had confessed that he liked. her. It was like a dream come true for her. When she got home that night, she learnt that Bryan had packed out and left a message for her that he wanted to start a life with the girl she saw with him and figured out that the way start would be to get a job and live with her.
It didn't bring down her mood a bit. Instead, she was happy for him that he had found someone he wanted to change for.
A day later, Katrina had come to her house, furiously apologizing about her behaviour and was joyous to hear about the Toby's declaration of like for her. It wasn't until later in the afternoon that Asher arrived and it was then they told her they were expecting.
It suddenly dawned it her then that God was compensating her for all the things she went through all those past years.
Asher and Katrina were determined to have their wedding before her baby bump started to show so their wedding was fixed to two weeks after the revelation.
Right now, she was driving to St Marina's hospital as she got a call from Dr Cassie who did her heart transplant months ago. She was told after the successful operation that a woman had donated her heart to her and she wasn't sure then if it was the family's decision or the woman herself but she was about to find out as the doctor scheduled a meeting with her and a family member of the heart donor.
She didn't know the reason for the meeting but the only thing Dr Cassie let on was that she should be careful not to sag anything to upset the person. She was however very sure that she'd be on her best behavior. After all, if not for the deceased she'd probably be dead.
She parked in the garage and the memories of the last time she was there was refreshed in her mind. She wasn't a great believer but she found herself praying for the poor girl who had her life sacrificed. She trudged in. Tracing her steps to the room she remembered as Dr Cassie's.
She opened the door without knocking and saw a man sitting in front of Dr Cassie with his head bent almost as if in sorrow. She saw the pitiful look Cassie threw the man and saw the reluctance in her eyes and she sighted her and called the man's attention to her.
"Mr Collins, she's here."
The man turned so slowly towards her and for some reason she felt scared. Why am I scared.
The man fully turned to her and the she knew why she was scared.
