It must have been 2 hours or maybe 3 hours since Melanie sat at the roadside in the rain she didn't know which as she had lost track of time. The heavy rain turned into drizzle and into nothing at all but she sat, still. Her former unseeing eyes beginning to take in the neighbourhood she was in. It was getting late but she did mind. She wasn't thinking, her mind was blank. She had cried to a point where there's nothing to feel.
Thinking back to the dream she had, she wondered who the woman in her dream was, how she was related to Toby and if it was because of her he was so cruel. Perhaps she broke his heart and left him, fleeing with his money. But that didn't seem right. She remembered the face of the woman in her dream, a woman with a gentle and lovely face like hers wouldn't do something like that. Or...would she?
They say you can't judge a book by its cover.... Does it apply to the woman in her dream? Or maybe she was his sister...no it didn't seem like that. It seems like they were....lovers. Yes! That's what it is...lovers.She felt a pang of jealousy at the idea of Toby having someone he loved so much, whether in the past or present....could he be that he has a current lover and Asher lied to her? No it didn't seem like it. She was starting to feel enormous headache when a familiar voice spoke out.
"Why so deep in thought? Anything you have to share with me?" She turned sharply to her uncle, Kevin smiling at her, sadly.
"N-nothing....how long have you been here?" She asked shivering and hoping he wouldn't ask too much questions though she strongly suspects he already knew some parts. He looked down at his wrist watch and shook his head.
"Almost an hour. You sure everything's alright with you?"
"Yeah, I just...I felt like sitting here and admiring the view." She lied.
"What view, pray?"
"Nothing spectacular actually...just the occasional passerbys. I loves to watch something so normal."Hmm..I guess you're right. Its a really rare thing to see." She noticed the sarcastic tone her uncle used but chose to ignore it."
"Yeah."
They were both silent for a while like they were both in deep thoughts with Kevin smiling occasionally making it seem like whatever he was thinking about was a good thing.
"You know, love is a really confusing thing." He began.
"How would you know? You don't even love your own wife." The smile on his face flattered and was replaces with a sad smile. "You all think I'm wicked with the way I treat my wife. Have you ever stopped to think what she did? No! You didn't. Just because of what you see me do you all assume I'm the bad guy huh?"
"I'm sorry, I didn't--".
"It's fine, as I said, love is confusing. Sometimes all we have to do is follow our hearts but then again, following your heart, you should be ready for whatever challenge that comes your way. For love, there will always be sacrifices and there will always be a time when you have to choose between the person you love and other things. Most times people choose the person they love and they either regret it or are happy with the results. And for the end result, no one knows. So the saying 'follow your heart but take your brain along' is a very good advice which I'd advice you to use very well. A word they say is enough for the wise." Kevin stood and offered his hand to Melanie who was still in a deep thought.
"Ready to go home." She managed a nod and together they walked into the awaiting car.

"You're a fool Toby, you've done so many stupid things since I've known you but this. This is low, for you. An heartless thing to do. How do you expect the girl to feel? Seriously what's wrong with you?"
"I didn't ask you to get me a babe did I?"
"No, you didn't. And that was my mistake. I thought you were still human but I was wrong you're a monster." And with that Asher turned his back at his best friend and left his house silently vowing not to step foot at his house until he apologized to Melanie.
Toby made a move to go after his friend but stopped. He wouldn't let Asher control his life he didn't want that girl, she reminded him of Mara even though they look nothing alike. Mara.
That name always causes pain to him. The fact that she hadn't even thought of him as she took her last breath but of someone who she doesn't even know hurt him more that anything could. He thought back to the dream he had when he was with Melanie. It was the same dream he always had, the difference was that Melanie was included. He noticed her as she stood confused a little far away from him. He noticed every expression and how she almost cried when the wind took Mara away.
Melanie.
He was curious about her. He knew he didn't love her but couldn't pinpoint what exactly he felt for her. Melanie and Mara had nothing in common, in character they differed. Mara was cool and would never cuss whereas Melanie was the opposite. Mara was a brunette and Melanie was a Blondie still he didn't know why he always felt like they were the same.
It took all his willpower to stand up from where he laid with Melanie the other day. He felt a kind of peace he felt with Mara alone which got him really confused.Could it be that Mara returned in a different form which is Melanie?
No! There's nothing like that. The spiritual world isn't real. He wouldn't let himself think absurd things. Taking a big gulp from the water bottle in his hand he put it down on the counter and went off to his room.
