I can't believe she shut me out! The music is loud even through the door and I know she expects me to leave, but I won't. I sink down to the floor and sit with my back pressed against her door. Lacey is stubborn but I don't give up when I set my mind to something and right now I am set on fixing things with Lacey.I get that she is mad at me, heck, I am mad at myself. I know we can get through this. We can go back to the way things were before. I need Lacey too much for this hurdle to derail us. She is my sounding board, my due north, my epicentre. I won't let her push me away, I'll just wait her out.
It's been hours... She must be sleeping. Damn stubborn woman. My eyes drop closed and I lean more on the door frame and decide to take a little nap. There's nothing else to do after all.
I startle awake when my head smashes into the floor. "Ow!"
"What the hell Ash! What are you still doing here?" Lacey grounds out through gritted teeth. I look up from beneath her and realise I've fallen between her legs. She's only wearing a shirt and panties and right now I can see up her shirt. My eyes widen and I stir down below, my traitorous cock is coming alive in my pants.
"Uhh..." I stammer but can't tear my eyes away. "Y...your panties..."
"What about my bloody panties?"
"I... I can see them..." I mutter.
"Oh shit!" Lacey squeals as she jumps away. "Get up would you!"
I hastily rise to my feet, rubbing the back of my head to help relieve the pain. My face heats up in embarrassment. I can't believe I couldn't move. "I'm sorry Lace..."
"You've been saying that alot lately. I never knew you were such a pervert!"
"Me either!"
Lacey smiles at my shocked admission and I grin back. I walk over to her and she steps backwards. I keep approaching until her back hits the wall and I cage her in. "Lacey, Lacey, Lacey... Nowhere to run now." Her body shakes and she won't look me in the eyes. "Please look at me?"
"No..."
"Please baby..."
"Don't call me that!" Lacey snaps.
"Sorry sunshine. Please let me fix this, fix us..."
"What's done is done. You can't take it back, you can't undo your reaction. We just have to move forward."
"So you're no longer mad at me?" I give her my best puppy dog look, hoping she says yes.
"I'm still mad, but I will get over it with time. It's still pretty recent Ash..."
"I know. I just... I can't leave it like this."
"Like what?"
"I don't know... Disconnected. I don't like it." I hug her quickly, clinging to her body. "Please hug me back..." I beg. Lacey reluctantly places her hands around me and I sink my head into her neck. I breathe in her scent and find my body relaxing. "I need you..."
"I will always need you Ash, but I really need you to respect my wishes here. I do need some space. Just to separate what happened between us and our friendship. It's important to me too."
"Okay... As long as you promise me that we will be alright."
"You will always be my best friend Ash, nothing will change that."
"Good."
Lacey gently pushes me off her and I reluctantly release her from my hug. She smiles softly at me but it feels forced. There's a barrier between us now. A newly erected wall that separates me from her. I don't like it, I don't like it at all. I drag her out to the couch and start a movie, hoping she won't kick me out.
