Just Like You [Genji x Reader]

More time has passed and your time in Nepal has become much more enjoyable. Zenyatta realized that you are actually a comedic person rather than the uptight facade of yourself that you put up. Genji has been slowly liking you more and more and now that he's gotten to know you better he might be ready to confess. As for you, you were the happiest you've ever been with Genji and Zenyatta. Oddly, you've been feeling great with yourself too. Soon enough maybe you can go back to overwatch and apologize to everyone.

One night you were getting ready to go for a walk in your room. you were debating on wearing your mask thing or not wear the mask thing was the question you were asking yourself. What if someone was on the path? That's still no one goes on there... but what if... your thoughts were interrupted by a soft knock on the door. "come in" you say. You knew it was Genji, this was a common occurrence, he was here to tell you about the status of your progress.

the vibe of the room shifted with anticipation as soon as you saw Genji's face. It looked full of bundled excitement with some worry as well. "so? how am I?" you ask wishing he would hurry up and speak. "You're done." he said with a wide grin. "done?" For some reason, you weren't processing what Genji was telling you. "you are finally at peace Y/N". You were in shock.

"So, what does this mean?? What happens now?" you ask. "well, I'll be heading to overwatch to resume my duties. They want to know if you will come with me. Actually I would want you to come with me as well. now that you are aware and comfortable with your body they were wondering if you would use your abilities from your last... occupation, to work with overwatch."

It was an easy choice for you. You were almost a completely different person now. Your pessimistic views had changed to a realistic but somewhat positive view. Your opinion of overwatch brightened through the help of Genji. Plus, you couldn't leave your bestie Hana hanging. "I'd be open to that ya. I'm not going to lie I'm a little nervous I mean, the last time I saw everyone I tried to kill them. But that wasn't me, not I am now at least." "They will understand Y/N, they are some of the most open people I know. Just let them get to know you. Now I believe Zenyatta has attempted to cook for us. Shall we go see?"

Zenyatta cooked you both your favourite, you a pizza and Genji had a platter of sushi. Not gonna lie, the food portions were way too big for two people who were cyborgs but you had a feeling Zenyatta just wanted to treat you to.

"Master thank you so much, I'll really miss this place," I say after eating as much as I could. "Please, I am no longer your master, call me Zenyatta. Genji never calls me Zenyatta, so old-fashioned."  Genji chuckles "That's because I am forever indebted to you master." 

- Later that night  -

you were getting ready for an evening stroll around the courtyards. You had the jitters in anticipation for tomorrow. You would be boarding a flight with Genji at 7 am and arriving at the Overwatch headquarters at around 8 pm. You knew you shouldn't be worried and you weren't.... maybe it was excitement? You were not the biggest people person. You put on a comfy green sweater (yes you stole that from Genji in a scaling contest) and went out into the cold.

The snow ontop of the mountains was old of course, you were on a mountain. It would be crunchy under your feet if you hadn't learned to walk so lightly. You wore your mask to see through the night, there's no electricity up here of course and the lanterns weren't light. There was of course wind too, a near constant with the snow. A normal person would definitely not be going for a late-night stroll. "Y/N! can't sleep?" you turn around to see Genji in his full armour walking towards you. "No not just really, just nerves. In a good way of course. Also maybe some indigestion from eating too much..." Genji chuckled "well I can relate with you there. Shall we walk?"

Genji walked along with you in a comfortable silence until you came to a part of the mountains where they seemed split so that the moon could shine through. Obviously you were not the first to discover this as there were some shabby benches. you went and sat down on the bench, clicking off your facial plate. You let out a sigh and lean your head back to look at the moon. Genji sits to your right doing the same. "Y/N.... I have to admit, you've grown on me," he says gazing at the night sky. "Yeah me too. I was hesitant when I discovered you were a Shimada." Genji chuckled. "sometimes, you are so blind Y/N."

-Flashback, Genji's POV-

It's 4 months into her training and I've started to work out my emotions for her. I think.... I like her, but I know I can't tell her this at least not now. She's still so fragile. When I look at her I see a part of me that is better than I could ever be, which I get doesn't make sense. She's funny, witty and knows how to let loose. That's something I could never do after I became who I am now, in fact, I still struggle with it.  The sparrow I used to be died, but I think she is bringing the sparrow back to life.

-Present Day Y/N- 

"Pardon me?" you chuckled a bit confused by his statement. "I didn't mean in a friendly way... Y/N" he said your voice softly yet seriously. the tension shifted and he turned to look at you. You got it now, he liked you. the only issue is, you didn't know if you liked him yet. You hadn't been focused on that. Before you could continue your chain of thought, he grabbed your face, turning it to his. You didn't stop it, because you didn't want to. he looked into your eyes as he leant in, you remembered Zenyatta teaching you that eyes hold everything. Trust, love, defensiveness, anger etc. His showed passion and vulnerability. he kissed you then it was sweet, but much to your dismay it was short. You were shook, and sat there while Genji got up and walked away.

You collected yourself and took a minute to think things through. Did you like him like that? Well, you certainly want to kiss him more. Why did he leave me here? not that were particularly angry, just confused. You concluded that you should probably sleep on it, you had a long morning and journey ahead of you. Plenty of time to talk it out with Genji.

sooooo I finished this part. I wanted to slow their relationship down just about, don't panic reader. reason is I want to be able to write about them in more depth. I want you to have a bit more of a connection with this version of you in this universe. you need more familiarization with the OW team (just not jeff, he gone) and your own abilities in general (yes you fire chica). Also I want to establish some jealousy and fiery relationships;)
