Percy POV:
"Percy! Get up! You're going to be late for school!" Percy heard his mom, Sally Jackson, the famous owner of the 'Blue Cookies' candy store, call. Percy groaned inwardly. 'Why does school even exist?' He muttered, but not softly enough. "I heard that!" Sally yelled. "Get down here this instant or no blue cookies for a month!" Upon hearing that, Percy was standing behind Sally with his backpack in no less than three seconds. Pretending to sigh exasperatedly, Sally handed Percy a bag of blue cookies. But nothing could keep a small smile from sneaking onto her face when Percy lit up at the sight of the paper bag. "Thanks Mom! Will you please make me more when I get back?" He pleaded with these huge baby seal eyes that no one could resist. "Fine..." Sally grumbled as she gave in. "Now get going before you're late on your first day of high school!"
She said but not before giving him a kiss on the cheek. Percy waved goodbye as he raced off to school and reached with twenty minutes to spare.
Annabeth POV:
Annabeth was seriously excited.
She had just returned to New York from San Francisco where she had travelled to for a holiday and was going to Goode high school.
She had received not only an academic scholarship but also a track and art scholarship! She had heard that Goode had a humongous library and she couldn't wait to spend her time in there. She grabbed her things and rushed to her new school with a skip in her step.
When she reached school, all Annabeth wanted to do was to get to the library. But due to some unfortunate circumstances, namely a misreading of the time, Annabeth reached school ten minutes before school was scheduled to begin. She rushed through the hallways, searching for her locker, which was locker number 219. All of a sudden, Annabeth bumped headfirst into something hard as her books and belongings lay scattered all across the floor.
She looked up, flustered, and found herself lost in the mesmerising sea-green eyes of a tall, lean and tan guy with messy, black hair.
Percy POV:
Percy couldn't believe his eyes.
He looked down at the flustered yet gorgeous girl staring up at him, a little red-faced from colliding headfirst into him after running at full speed along the hallway. Her long, honey blonde curls, her gorgeous tan, her lean, fit and slightly muscular form, her beautiful stormy grey eyes... Snap out of it Percy! Said a voice in his head.
Percy blinked, shaking his head, as the girl continued to stare up at him."Hey, I'm so sorry for banging into you. My name's Percy. Do you need any help?" The girl looked like she had been shaken out of a reverie. "No, I don't, I'm sitting on the floor in the middle of the hallway with my books scattered all around for no reason", she muttered sarcastically, as she started picking up her books frantically, while glancing at her watch repeatedly.
Percy turned bright red with embarrassment. He really had no idea how to act around girls, especially girls as beautiful as the one standing before him. Wait, did he just call the girl he just met beautiful? No way! Percy shook himself out of his embarrassing thoughts as he stupidly hoped the girl couldn't read his mind.
He stooped downwards and helped the girl pick up her books, the accidental brushing of their shoulders leaving him flustered.
He turned and saw that the girl's face resembled a tomato too."Hey... What's your name?" Percy finally got the courage to ask. "Annabeth", she replied, "Annabeth Chase".
