Rumpleteazer yawned, "Good morning, Jerrie" She sleepily blinked and looked at the nest next to hers. "Jerrie?" The male calico wasn't in his nest and the den felt rather empty. Rumpleteazer climbed out of her nest and into the junkyard. "Where is he?"

In the junkyard, Demeter and Bombalurina were sharing a bird while gossiping.

"Did you hear that Jellylorum is pregnant with Skimbleshanks' kittens?" Bombalurina took a bite of the bird.

"That's nice." Demeter smiled. "When is she giving birth."

"2 months?" Bombalurina guessed. "Maybe? I don't know, I stopped listening. Jennyanydots should give birth before her though."

"I would like to have another kitten someday." Demeter smiled, her eyes glowing.

Rumpleteazer approached the queens, "Hey, uh, have you two seen Mungojerrie this morning? He wasn't in the den when I woke up."

"No, sorry." Demeter shook her head. "But I'm sure he's here somewhere."

"Oh, uh, yeah." Rumpleteazer lowered her tail and went back to her den.

"Weird, she's usually full of energy." Bombalurina tilted her head.

Demeter stood up. "I'm going to talk to her, you can finish the bird." Bombalurina nodded and Demeter went to her daughter's den.

"He never leaves the junkyard without me." Rumpleteazer sighed. "I don't know where he is."

"Maybe he went hunting or went to gather things for a prank?" Demeter petted her using her tail. "He'll be back, I promise."

"So yeah, Griddlebone is the second in command currently, but you can work your way up." Macavity flicked his tail sending the cat away. "Sounds good? We can lead tog- why are you so nervous?"

"It's just, I never leave the junkyard without Rumpleteazer." Mungojerrie shifted his paws, "It feels weird being without her."

"It's only been one night," Macavity said bluntly.

"I know," Mungojerrie sighed, "But we've never really been separated like this, even when Skimbleshanks left us with the tribe we stayed together, it's kind of hard to be alone."

"That's the problem." Macavity stroked his back with his tail. "The Cats made you feel abandoned so you cling to your sister, the only family you had, am I right?"

"Yeah, " Mungojerrie looked at the floor before looking at Macavity. "You're not going to abandon me, are you?"

Macavity gave his son a slight nuzzle, "Of course not."

Demeter petted Rumpleteazer with her tail. "It's okay, I promise." Rumpleteazer remained upset. "There's got to be some way to get her mind off of this." Demeter thought while comforting her daughter. "What are some of the best tricks you and your brother pulled?"

"Hm, " Rumpleteazer thought hard. "Okay, this one time we tricked Rum Tum Tugger that if he drank from this puddle it would give him a better singing voice, he took one sip and immediately puked. He thought it was funny afterward, Munkustrap didn't, he yelled at us until he lost his voice"

"That's what happens when you hurt someone's brother." Demeter nuzzled her. "I'm sure you would lose it if someone hurt Mungojerrie."

"Yep." Rumpleteazer ears perked up.

"Are you going to be protective over Skimbleshanks new litter?" Demeter asked. "I mean, they are your adoptive siblings."

"Of course," Rumpleteazer smirked. "No one is allowed to hurt them except for me and Jerrie."
