Macavity scowled at the sight in front of him. Demeter was asleep right next to her mate, her kitten hugging her paw while she slept. Macavity claws almost scratched the kitten.
"No, that's too far." Macavity shook his head. He put his paw down. "Demeter won't take me back." He just dug his claws into the kitten's tail. Jemima cried out, waking up Demeter. Demeter looked around, but Macavity wasn't there.
"It's okay, baby." Demeter licked her kitten. Jemima pressed herself close to her mother. Demeter wrapped her tail around her.
"I saw a monster!" Jemima cried. "I'm scared."
"Oh, " Demeter nuzzled her. "Do you think you can fall back asleep?" Jemima shook her head. "Alright, just, Munk, help me."
Munkustrap blinked himself awake. Jemima ran up to him and hugged him. "Aww, hey, baby."
"Dad!" Jemima cried. "There was a monster."
"Oh, don't worry baby, " Munkustrap touched their noses together. "I'll make sure that you're safe. No monster will get to you." Jemima curled up next to him and soon went back to sleep. Munkustrap wrapped his tail around her.
"I think Macavity might hurt her." Demeter started to cry.
"He won't, I'll make sure." Munkustrap licked her, "Don't worry." Demeter curled up next to him. Munkustrap purred to calm her down. "I'll make sure that the tribe's on high alert tomorrow."
Outside of the junkyard, Macavity met with his son.
"Hey, dad." Mungojerrie smiled but his voice was laced with fear.
Macavity grinned. "I need you to tell me everything about Munkustrap." He couldn't get revenge on the kitten, but that sliver tom was fair game.
"Uhh." Mungojerrie tilted his head. Macavity glared at him and unsheathed his claws. "Okay, so he's the son of Old Deuteronomy, who's the leader and-"
"That's it!" Macavity eyes shined. "Tell me about the leader."
"Okay, uh" Mungojerrie pulled his tail close to him. "Well, in two days he's going to make the Jecille choice."
"The what?" Macavity asked.
"Oh, once a year he picks a cat to be sent to the Heaviside layer so they can be reborn." Mungojerrie shifted his paws.
Macavity looked at his son. "What the hell kind of tribe adopted you?" He shook his head. "And this is an important event?"
"Yes." Mungojerrie nodded. "Everyone's going to be there."
Macavity smiled. "Thanks, son, you really helped me."
Mungojerrie's eyes lit up. "I did? Awesome." He nuzzled his father, shortly before he left.
"Okay, Teazer try not to make it obvious we stole anything." Mungojerrie whispered.
"I won't." Rumpleteazer nodded. She picked up her bag and accidentally knocked over a bunch of junk.
"Macavity!" Demeter screamed in the distance, causing every cat to hide.
Mungojerrie glared at his sister. Teazer gave a nervous smile. "I love you, Jerrie."
The male calico sighed, "let's go." He picked up his bag and the twins tried to sneak into their den. They were searching the clearing for anything a cat dropped in their panic when they were spotted.
"You two!" Munkustrap yelled. The twins nodded to each other and ran from the tribe. "I'm going to-"
Mr. Mistoffelees ears perked up. "Old Deuteronomy?" All the cats in the tribe got excited. Old Deuteronomy entered the junkyard and was nuzzled by the tribe. The twins snuck back to the tribe. Mungojerrie sat with the toms and Rumpleteazer sat next to her mother.
"I can't believe that Mungojerrie scared the tribe like that." Rumpleteazer shook her head. "So rude." Demeter gave a small laugh and nuzzled her.
In a tree, Macavity looked at the tribe. "Alright, you two see that old gray cat?" His two lackeys nodded. "That's the guy."
"When should we?"
"Not right now." Macavity shook his head. "Wait until they have their guard down." The two nodded and Macavity watched the tribe.
Later into the night, the tribe was in a good mood. Skimbleshanks was telling stories about his train when Macavity made his move. He let out a menacing laugh, alerting the tribe. The cats went into a panic and Macavity's lackeys ran in a net in their teeth. They threw it on the tribe leaders and took him. Macavity stood proudly, "I'll be back for you, Demeter!" He boasted shortly before Munkustrap tackled him.
The toms hissed at each other. The tribe watched in a tense silence. Demeter had her tail around Jemima. Horror was clear on her face. Munkustrap clawed at Macavity repeatedly. Many of the hits landed until Macavity bit his shoulder and knocked him over. Munkustrap landed at the paws of cats.
Rumpleteazer licked his shoulder. "Munk? Can you get up?"
Mungojerrie looked at the silver tabby before looking at his father. He wrapped his tail around his sister. "What have I done?" Macavity was fighting another tom in the tribe when Mungojerrie clawed at his father. Macavity turned to fight him, but more cats went to fight the ginger cat. Macavity fled the junkyard.
Munkustrap stood on his shaky legs and Demeter ran up to him. "Munkustrap? How are you feeling?" Munkustrap said nothing but nuzzled Demeter. Demeter wrapped her tail around him.
"How do we get Old Deuteronomy back?" He asked, before licking a wound on his shoulder.
Rum Tum Tugger shook his fur, "I have an idea. Mr. Mistoffelees can pull a trick to bring him." He turned to the tuxedo cat, who nodded and got himself ready for the magic trick.
Meanwhile, Macavity looked at his kidnapping victim. "Oh what do with you? Hm?" He turned to his lackeys. "What do you two think? I could just cut his throat, drown him, or, " He turned back to the gray cat, who had disappeared. "Where the hell did he go?!"
The night after the tribe meeting, Mungojerrie was asleep in his nest. Macavity snuck into his nest. "Wake up." He pawed him and scratched him with his claws. Mungojerrie instead pulled himself deeper into a ball. Macavity scowled and went to Rumpleteazer's nest. He put a paw on her and looked right back to Mungojerrie.
"Don't hurt her!" Mungojerrie jumped out of his nest. Macavity grabbed by the scruff of his neck and dragged him out of the junkyard. "Dad, I'm sorry, I don't know what I did but I'm sorry. Please don't hurt me." Mungojerrie sobbed. Macavity threw him on the ground, placed his paw on his son's chest, glaring at him.
