The Marauders were an amazing group of friends, they were made of four boys; James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew. During their time at Hogwarts, they ended up making a magical map of Hogwarts, and Peter, Sirius, and James became Animagus to help their werewolf friend, Remus, during full moons.
Their friendship was everlasting- or that's what they thought. Peter ended up betraying them to Voldemort and becoming a death eater. Due to Peter betraying them, James along with his wife Lily were killed by Voldemort. Sirius was convicted of betraying them and killing 12 muggles. Finally, Remus was left alone, thinking that Sirius betrayed them and that Peter and James were dead.
In the end, they all died. James died when he was 21 by Voldemort, thinking that Peter was still his friend and leaving his one-year-old son behind. Sirius died at 35 by his cousin Bellatrix, holding a grudge against Peter, Blaming himself for not being there, Missing James, and never fully recovering his friendship with Remus. Peter died at age 37 from suffocating himself, regretting certain things. Remus died when he was 37, leaving his son behind, regretting thinking that Sirius was guilty, and regretting shutting himself away.
Luckily, they were given another chance at life. Currently, James, Sirius, and Remus along with some others are residing at Number 12 Grimmauld Place. Where's Peter? Merlin knows where he is- Well, Merlin doesn't care where he is either so it really doesn't matter.
A friendship like James, Remus, and Sirius really couldn't be explained. They were like brothers- heck, Sirius and James practically are brothers! Just about a million other questions formed in the group's minds. For Sirius can't help but wonder if his family will return- in honesty, he doesn't want them to, he's also fairly sure that Regulus doesn't really want them to return either. With Remus, he wonders if his grandparents will return, after he got became a werewolf they were there for him throughout everything. James wants his parents back, they died during his 7th year, it impacted him very badly since his parents- at the time- were the only people that understood him. Of course, they're like brothers. They don't need to tell each other what's wrong they just know. For some reason- one way or another they'll always be there.
