"Get off me Damon. It's not gonna happen." I shove him towards the other end of the couch..as if it would make a difference, but he backs off as I return to my book.
"It's not like there's anything better to do." He wines.
"Just go read a book, or kill something..whatever you do for fun." I retort, not bothering to look up at a now frustrated Damon. We had been locked in the Salvatore house for almost 3 days now thanks to Klaus. He had referred to it as 'insurance'; keeping us from trying to kill him after his departure from Mystic Falls. I wasn't supposed to be stuck here, but of course with my luck, I was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Stefan and I were easily entertaining ourselves, Damon on the other hand, spent his time going through half the liquor in the house and.....that's really it..I mean other than making sad attempts to sleep with me. I should probably clarify here, I'm not a vampire. Quite the opposite actually. I'm the daughter of Alaric..a vampire hunter. I'm not exactly into all the vampire stuff, but I'm definitley well informed on everything going on in Mystic Falls.
My dad, Alaric, is off..somewhere..I think..I wasn't really paying attention when he explained. Anyway, he left me here for the summer to try and keep things under control. I honestly have no idea what he means by that..like what is a 16 year old vampire hunter in training supposed to do if vampire world war 3 breaks out?? It wouldn't matter much even if I could do something, considering I'm locked up here.
"Hellooo! Guys?" The front door opens, and Elena's voice echos through the house.
"We brought food!" Caroline adds. Damon jumps up from the couch and is at the front door in seconds.
"What kind? O negative? You know I'm picky."
"I meant for Nichole. We didn't get a chance to go to the hospital this week." Caroline answers, rolling her eyes. Damon groans in frustration.
"If I don't get some actual blood soon I'm gonna drain Nichole in her sleep!"
"Calm down, I'll try and bring some by tomorrow. How much do you think you'll need for a week?"
Damon and Caroline are still talking blood as Elena and I leave the entry way.
"So what's Stefan been up to?" She asks, as we walk into the living room.
"Nothing exactly exciting..I guess. I don't know." I laugh. "I mean you were just here yesterday..not much has happened since then. He's still the same brooding Stefan." I mumble. Elena is great and all.. I just can never understand her infatuation with Stefan.
"Right." She says. "Well Bonnie's still researching spells and stuff that could get you out of here..but it's only been a few days, and she said it's a really strong spell that's trapping you here,"
"Yeah, well this isn't how I ideally wanted to spend my summer, but I can live with it." I laughed.
Elena smiles. "Well, I'm gonna go see Stefan."
"Kay." I call. As Elena makes her way to the stairs, I walk out of the living room to go find Caroline and Damon. I round the corner into the hall and ran right into Damon. "Hey sorry. Where's Caroline?"
"Blondie had to leave." He says, before nudging me aside and continuing on his path to the liquor cabinet.
I groan. "You can't be drinking again. I swear at the rate you drink it might as well be a sport; it can't be healthy,"
"I'm a vampire Nichole. Health isn't my first concern. And haven't you heard of beer pong?" He selects a half empty whisky bottle then flops down on the couch. I follow and sit next to him.
"Well drinking alone isn't any fun." I sigh, holding my hand out for the bottle.
"Pfffft. You're 16 Nichole. Your dad w- is my drinking buddy," He clears his throat. "Not you."
"My age has never stopped me from doing anything before." I held my hand out again, and this time he simply handed over the bottle. I hesitated for a moment, then took a quick drink and quickly pass it back to him before choking on the strong fiery taste. Damon glances over and chuckles before taking a drink.
"It takes practice to drink this kind of stuff. It's not the cheap beer you kids swig down at parties."
"I can see that." I say, still coughing. "You know what, I think I'll just go upstairs and find another book to read.." I say getting up.
"Have fun with that." He calls. "Getting drunk at 11am isn't for everyone." I hear him mumble as I start up the stairs. I didn't exactly want to leave him alone with a bottle of whiskey, but it was better than getting drunk with him...that wouldn't end well.
The Salvatore library was incredible..full of boring classics and history books, but still pretty cool. It was by far my favorite room in the house. As I walk in, I inhale the smell of old books, and smile. I walk over to the nearest book shelf, hold out my hand and close my eyes. I move my hand along the spine of each book until I stop on a random selection. I pull the book off the shelf and open my eyes to see "Gone with the Wind" in my hands. I shrug, it has been a while since I read it in 9th grade; might as well read it again. With that, I pull out a chair from the corner and make myself comfortable.
