The Oni and The Ghost

Chapter Six: Closer to the Truth

~3rd Person POV~

"Morro I think it is time for your first mission."
Sensei told the boy.
Morro was pretty shocked he was being trusted with a mission this early-on in his training but a wave of excitement washed over him.
"I want you to go check out an abandoned research lab with Jay and Nya." Wu instructed.
After he finished speaking, the couple walked in.
"Come on Morro, we are taking my car."Jay stated as he signaled the Wind ninja to follow him to the garage.
Morro waved goodbye to Wu and followed Jay and Nya to the car. Most of the drive was silent until Nya finally spoke up.

"Morro, to be honest, I don't trust you but i do trust Wu's judgement, so I hope you aren't lying." She sighed as she gave Morro a half smile from the front. Morro gave her a small sorrowful smile to reply.
Well that was awkward.

Soon, the group made it to a one-way road made of dirt and drove along the path until Jay pointed out a strange feature.

"Hey, this is where we picked up Lloyd after he crashed his bike a few days ago. I wonder what he was doing on this old road?" Jay said as he pointed to a small patch of sand on the side of the road.

"Maybe he was going to the same place we are?" Nya suggested as she looked back at her boyfriend.

"But didn't we just find out about this place?" Morro pointed out.

It was Nya who responded.
"Yeah, that's strange. Wu just told us it was a place Garmadon owned. Isn't that strange that Lord Garmadon owned a lab?" She stated.

"Why would Lloyd want to go somewhere Lord Garmadon owned?" Morro thought out loud.

Everyone sat in an unsettling silence for the rest of the ride. Almost as if  Morro's statement had stuck with them as the went.
Soon, the group had finally arrived at there destination.

The lab was huge and looked abandoned. A strong gate, flooded with caution tape, blocked the building.
The three of them did Airjitzu over the gate and went along the path on the inside.

Morro and the others made it to the door and Jay picked the key.
He finally finished and the door cracked open.

"Follow my lead." Jay instructed as Morro and Nya nodded to him. 

A flashlight beam held by Jay was the only source of light through the dark and ominous hallways and empty rooms.

Jay opened the door to a room with double doors. This one was different.
It was a testing room.
The shine of the flashlight revealed a dusty room full of books and weird substances in test tubes flooding the room.
"It's so messy it looks almost as if they never left." Morro said as he walked over several books.
"If only there wasn't so much dust everywhere." Jay sighed.

"Hey guys, you better see this." Nya stated as she looked back at the boys with a concerned face on.

The boys walked over to Nya and she pointed to a few books on a grey countertop.

Morro and Jay's eyes widened when they read the covers of the books.

"What the hell!?" Jay gasped as he grabbed the books.
"Most of these books are like guides on how to awaken Oni Blood!" Morro gasped as he read more book covers.
