"When the hell is she gonna wake up?" An unrecognizable muffled voice brought back my consciousness back. My eyes shot open and my limbs jerked against restraints. A small room cleared in my vision, four people untied, staring at me and another next to me, surprisingly silent.
"What the-" My voice quickly escalated.
"Finally, I thought you'd never wake up." The man who controlled the blue fire spoke with a grin on his face. Toga sat next to him, her eyes lighting up as she jumped from her seat making her way over to me. My jaw clenched as she brought her knife to my chin. My breath came out sharply as her chuckles grew louder in my ear.
"That's enough. They are our guests, right Toga?" A man with blue hair and a hand over his face spoke up from his spot in the corner. She rolled her eyes and lowered the knife.
"Later then," She whispered, and I cringed. Suddenly, pain overtook my senses. A searing curse burning on my face, shoulders, and legs. I groaned quietly and sunk in my seat. My stomach swirled with the pain, threatening to come up at any second. My eyes focused on the ceiling as I prayed I wouldn't embarrass myself. The man chuckled in front of me.
"That's what you get for acting like a hero, sweetheart. I warned you, huh?" His voice alone was all the motivation I needed to puke, but I forced it down. Katsuki's head jerked at the man and then at me. He was silent in his analysis of me, and I thanked him for not saying anything in the depths of my mind. I heard shuffling in front of me and my eyes quickly flicked to the man moving.
"How pathetic." He leaned against the counter. "All of that show for the poor boy who inhaled too much smoke in his panic, only to make up for your little stunt with Toga. Wonder what you were thinking while you stood, so so still, while your friend about got cut to bits." He met my eyes. I kept my features neutral.
"Bold of you to think it was a show." My eyes dropped to the floor. "Nothing I could have possibly done could've made up for that time I lost." I met his eyes, and this time I allowed my fire to rage behind them.
"Oh shut up with that talk. What the hell you want us for?" Katsuki broke our stare as I looked at him. He stared forward, stealing himself. I followed his example.
"Well, first, Bakugo, we wanted to ask you to join our league. And, second, we'll keep that one a surprise for later." The hand man's rough voice projected.
"You're psychotic if you think I'm going to join you fools." Katsuki's voice was mature and steady.
Suddenly the man that was mist piped up.
"It's time. He's ready."
"Thank you, Kiroguri. Get them up." The man with the fire stepped towards me and started untieing me from my seat.
"Ooh, you'll love this, Clover." The man said, heaving me up.
"I doubt it you piece of roasted bacon," I growled under my breath.
"Oh please, do call me Dabi." He said close to my ear and my face twisted in disgust as Katsuki was heaved up beside me.
We were rushed outside and into the back of a truck. Katsuki was thrown in first and me after him. I groaned again and cursed, ready to go home.
"I'm over this." I looked over to Katsuki who was staring at the door. I nudged him gently. He looked over at me and looked back. "Hey, what's wrong?"
"Clover, we've been fucking captured, what do you think?!" His voice rose and I should've expected this but I only nodded with him. What an idiot.
"Don't you dare blame yourself for this. Katsuki I'll kill you myself if you're thinking that." Katsuki rolled his eyes.
"They obviously set us up for this. There's no way we could've prepared-"
"I know, Nightlight, I know. I'm just- thinking." He looked back at the door. I chuckled.
"You're a horrible liar," I said as he tried to shove me away from him. "Hey! I'm just letting you know."
"Sure you freaking Glowstick," He rolled his eyes and I could almost smile. Almost. There was some type of... uneasiness that seemed to close in on me. I could tell Katsuki could feel it too. His shoulders were tight and his eyes dull.
More and more people piled in, creating a wall of several layers to keep us from getting away. Or even seeing out. It was almost as if we were all a crowd, filing into a small space in waiting. It gave me chills. The chains on my wrists felt too tight, my arm screaming in pain. I was suddenly aware of all of my stabs, cuts, and bruises, and how much they truly hurt.
People filed away into seats that looked strangely like... church pews. Stained glass littered the walls, dirty, neglected, but they still filtered the light inside. It burned into my skin, teasing me to allow it to strengthen me, but it'd be a useless effort. We made our way to the front, the main men shoving us to our knees and I sucked in a breath. Katsuki's eyes immediately met mine and I only shook my head.
Something bad was about to happen.
The men, including Dabi, made their way up onto the stage as bright lights shone on the stage. I blinked repeatedly as the crowd cheered behind us and my heart twisted. A large voice exploded above us.
"Welcome our lovely Lord, The King of Darkness." A comical voice said. The crowd rang with cheers as the curtains opened and my insides tightened.
For my father walked out in all black clothing, waving with a huge smile on his face. My head dropped, my eyes filling with water. My heart pounded, my throat squeezing and the air sucked from my lungs.
"We have to go," I murmured to Katsuki, my voice shaking. He nodded and stared at the man he thought I was just scared of. "3, 2, 1."
On one, Katsuki sent explosions into the air, causing the crowd to begin moving in panic. They began to run out of the church, so I called the power to the top of my skin as Dabi began to move towards us. I jerked my hands, hearing the chains snap and my skin burn with the action. I rushed over to Katsuki and ripped his off and we filtered through the crowd.
"Burn them all if you have to! Don't let them get away!" Dabi cursed. I intertwined my shaking fingers with Katsuki's as I squeezed through people. We finally made it out the door and we ran the way everyone else was, darting down alleys and praying they weren't on our tails.
"Stop," Katsuki breathed, "They're gone." We slowed down.
"He wasn't supposed to be here," My mask began to crack and tears flowed down my face.
"Who?"
"My father." I breathed and Katsuki's shoulders dropped.
"That was your father?!" I could only nod.
"We have to get back to UA. Aizawa can help us." I began to walk again into the main road. I had no clue where we were, so I let Katsuki lead me. We walked in silence all the way to UA. We repeatedly checked behind us. There was no one, but we didn't pay it any mind. We made it through the gate and into the school.
"We're alive," I murmured.
"We're alive," Katsuki agreed. "Barely so."
We approached Aizawa's classroom and he shot up out of his seat. He called for recovery girl and asked me what happened. I told him, and he asked me questions I couldn't remember very well. The rest of my night was a blur, I just couldn't even bring myself to think about what happened.
I only replayed my nightmare again and again.
I fell asleep with Salali on my mind and panic in my heart.
