Antonio's POV:
I was stood in the foyer of the police station while the officer went to go get Talia. I am a mafia man, I have been taught my entire life to hide my anxieties but this, this made them go through the roof. God, I am a grown-ass man and I'm worrying about what my 17-year-old daughter thinks of me. I turn to face to wall of windows and I saw a father with his young daughter playing in the park, she didn't look any older than 3 or 4 years old and I can't help but feel guilty that I missed out on that part on my daughter's life, screw that I've missed 16 years of her life. There was no going to the park, kissing her cuts and scrapes better. She's 17, she's probably gone through her first heartbreak and I wasn't even there to take her to get ice cream and let her cry on my shoulder, I wasn't there to celebrate with her when she passed exams or graduated middle school, all because my wife wanted full custody. I know I shouldn't blame it all on her but she wouldn't even let me see her, I let her see the boys, not that she bothered anyway, I haven't seen her in 16 years. Why didn't I think of that? Where the fuck is Carol? The officer said her faster parents had died. Foster? Huh.
I was startled by the sound of footsteps. I turned around and I was greeted by some familiar brown eyes. I stared into them looking for some kind of emotion, it's natural that that is the first thing for me to do, never trust the words that they tell you when their eyes tell you the whole story, but they told me nothing they were blank, cold maybe even dead? I was shocked to find that she was doing the same to me, like father like daughter I guess. I greeted her with my best smile and hugged her, I felt her tense at my touch which made me even more confused, who hurt my baby? "I've missed you Principessa.". She stood there still tense as she took in what I said. "Uhhhh yeah you too, and I really don't want to sound rude but do you mind backing up a bit I just don't like physical contact. From anyone." That right there, that one sentence broke my heart, even when she was one and just learning to move about she loved hugs and kisses and she would try to get as close to us as possible, so the first thing that came to my mind was that someone had hurt my daughter to the point that she didn't even like hugs from her family. i apologised and only got a hum as a response. She doesn't trust me. We got in the car and sat in silence we only had a small exchange about not telling her brothers about being 'The Angel of Death'. She spoke about how even the people closest to you can hurt you and having to learn the hard way. She stopped her ramble instantaneously as if she didn't want to say anything else.
I was waiting for her to get her stuff so that we can get to the airport, I overheard her say, "So long fuckers" I guess that means she didn't like her foster parents very much.
Talia's POV:
We continued the car ride in complete silence, I think he understood that I'm not really a talker. I have kept to myself most of my life, except Ni and Ash. Even when I first met them they had to force me to join them at lunch or in class or to go out with them. I didn't want to get close to themand then be depressed when they will get bored of me and leave, like everyone else did. And they did. As we arrived at the airport I realised it's one that I own, most of the staff know me here so I will have to try and hide it from my dad. We walked in and immediately saw Rafael, head of security, he goes to walk over and I abruptly shake my head at him for him to stop. I quickly send him a message to explain and tell him to spread the message to act like they don't know me. We managed to get to the private jets with no interruptions and got on the plane to California, he never told me where we were going but I logged into the system and saw that the only private jet that was due to take off today was to Cali. The flight is about 11 hours give or take, I know my private jets have 2 bedrooms, I designed them that way so that people can have a safe space to sleep with a lock and a bathroom connected so ensure they feel comfortable. "When we get on I'm going to go sleep in one of the rooms in the back I will lock the door just knock to wake me up." He looked at me, wondering how I knew there were multiple rooms since the normal private jet has only one room. "I fly with Blake Industries when I go to other states so I know the layouts of their jets." I only left out the part where you know, I designed the planes and also own the airport but who needs to know the specifics? Not him.
