Work was tiring, Tarina wanted....no....needed a break, but she couldn't just ask for one. If she asked for one her boss would think she was slacking off then she wouldn't be able to get that promotion she's been hoping for. She just needed to unwind and relax and she knew just how: with some alcohol and manga.

Reading manga was her favorite past time and drinking some alcohol was just something to help her relieve her stress. She's been working her ass off at her company for 5 years and she still hadn't had that promotion she's been hoping for even though she worked hard every day.

Getting that promotion would make her day — there have been small hints that she would be the next one to be promoted.  Her co-workers had also noticed and did an early congratulation for her to which she thanked them. It was obvious she was going to be promoted and if she took that break then it might ruin her long-awaited promotion.

She hummed in joy thinking about her soon-to-be promotion and went into her kitchen, taking out a wine glass and a large bottle of wine. Uncorking it she poured some into the wine glass and sipped a bit of it. The alcohol immediately hit her; she could taste the luscious sweetness of the red wine smoothly sliding down her throat, and the velvety goodness swirling around her mouth as she tried to savor every drop of wine.

Tarina sighed, the wine was a delicacy that she could only drink at least twice a month — she was never really an alcohol person. Today was an exception.

She sipped a bit more of the wine and sat herself on her grey leather couch— careful not to let the wine spill. Opening her laptop, she went to the manga she'd always wanted to read but never found the time to, and pressed on it, seeing the unique art of the artist who drew the manga "The puppet princess of Calverine Nobility". It was a really famous manga, she had read the reviews and there were mixed opinions about it. Some liked it because of how they depicted the protagonist, showing her as a powerful yet vulnerable person while others didn't see the hype of it.

They say the plot was boring and cliche with the protagonist being too vulnerable and weak, but it sounded like they didn't actually read much of it as she saw scenes of the Protagonist standing up for herself from those trying to bully her.

She had to say it was exciting to be able to finally read it, her friend had told her all about it with excited eyes, pushing her to read it. It was annoying, but it made her excited. Sipping more of her wine, she read the first chapter of the manga, not expecting herself to be so involved with it.

The manga first showed the protagonist's sad past, she cried as she read, the alcohol influencing a bit of what she was feeling, and drank more wine, finding herself already drunk. The protagonist had no parents, she lived her life by herself and it showed her struggles trying to survive with what little she had. The next few chapters were even worse, Iris, the protagonist was then hired to be the fake Princess of Calveris where she suffered at the hands of Nobility with no help from anyone other than the Prince of Calveris and a few other male love interests.

The next thing she knew, time flew by fast and she felt tired, blinking her eyes to try and stay awake, she yawned. The alcohol was affecting her greatly, she rubbed her forehead, wincing a bit when she felt her migraine get worse.

Deciding to sleep off the pain, she set her wine glass on the carpet of her apartment and closed her laptop, moving it to someplace safe. Tarina yawned and closed her eyes, sighing when she felt herself already nodding off.

~

She felt the throbbing pain in her head and moaned, rolling around she clenched the sheets wrapped around her and hugged it tighter around her. They were so soft around her, softer than anything she's touched in her years of living.....softer than anything she's touched....
