To be fair, it was your fault for telling him about your little crush on the explosive pomeranian in the first place. But in your defense, you thought that a near brush with death on a stealth mission where the two of you shadowed Eraserhead would've made your best friend a little more bearable during the celebratory dinner that followed.
It didn't.
You giggled to yourself at the memory of Shinsou dunking your cheap phone in water that night when you went to drunkenly text Bakugou your feelings for him with zero expectations just to get it off your chest, the brooding teen promising to buy you a new one to replace it in exchange for never putting Bakugou's number in it. You teased that he was strong arming you, that this was blackmail, but honestly, you didn't care that much.
Way overdue for a new phone since technology was advancing too fast for your wallet to keep up, you accepted the consolation prize for your broken heart. Besides, you knew Bakugou's cell by heart.
You know, just in case you ever needed it in a pinch or something. Yeah, that was it.
As Aizawa finished teaching and dismissed the class for the day, he promptly curled up in his yellow sleeping bag while everyone else broke off into their designated friend groups.
Ever since the move into the dorms system that UA established, he had been around a lot more. It was kind of weird seeing your eternally exhausted teacher more often than your own parents but it wasn't too bad.
No matter what he said, he cared a lot about you guys.
When he would buy extra food for Uraraka because he knew she was hungry and wouldn't ask for it, he made sure there was plenty of food always stocked in the pantry. He spent extra time with Yaoyorozu and Todoroki to boost their self-esteem, went to the pet store to purchase Koda a guinea pig for his birthday when he shyly mentioned to Shoji that he wanted one, and even trained Shinsou one-on-one to complete his transfer into the hero course.
And those were just some of the obvious examples that you guys had picked up on.
He was even lenient with you when it came to your frequent tardiness because you spent too much time at the library and forgot to glance at the clock because you had your nose buried in a book.
Shinsou rolled his eyes as he was approached by Ashido and Kaminari, the troublesome duo dragging him over to where Midoriya was being attacked by Bakugou.
You giggled as your best friend shot you a helpless look, wagging a finger at him and resisting the urge to double over with laughter as his desperate expression transformed into a glare. Pulling out the novel you had been reading before class, you continued, completely immersed in the fictional world until a hand slammed down on your desk.
You jumped slightly, staring wide-eyed at the guy who had disrupted your book.
"Bakugou?" You whispered in confusion, tilting your head. "Is something wrong?"
His angry vermilion eyes glared at you but you didn't even flinch. Smoke rose from in between his fingers where he had used his quirk to catch your attention, effectively quieting everyone down and you blushed, feeling very self-conscious all of the sudden as their eyes turned on the scene he was making. But you didn't back down.
He might've been an ass but it never had much of an effect on you, not back then and certainly not now.
Bakugou opened his mouth, presumably to tell you why he was making a flashy scene, but before he could, Kirishima slung an arm around his shoulders and hauled him back.
"Movie night tonight!!" Kirishima announced with a grin, oblivious to the tension in the room. "L/N, you're going to join us this time, right?!"
Your smile was strained as you gestured subtly to your bookbag and you bit your lip apologetically. "Ahh, I'm really sorry I can't, I have to study."
