5. Road to Gorton, The Land of Taiga

Once upon a time, our teachers told us to go to the arena. We were shocked because it was a day off, and it was also a cold and rainy day. I thought they wouldn't mind killing us if we didn't obey them, and other girls thought like me. After a few minutes, all of us were now in the arena. They lined us up and started talking about the theory of frost demons. These kinds of monsters can turn water into ice and transform it into anything they want to. We were a little scared. I was the most terrified because most things I could do used water. They could use my own weapon against me because I wasn't able to control ice yet. When instructors ended the theoretical part, they said that now we'll have practice. We thought they were joking about making us fight these beasts here today. Some of them even laughed while saying that, but we were all wrong. We heard horrible, high moans. They told us to have good luck and try not to die and went away. In just a few seconds, we were surrounded by ten ice demons: by two dragons, four lizards, and four high-class human demons. All of them could control ice and water. It seemed like we didn't have any chance to handle this situation. If I didn't have my tail, I think I wouldn't be able to handle it. Fortunately, because I had a tail, I could fight two or even three of them at the same time. I saw Kiara and Calli easily defeat them and went to help Ame because she got caught by two human demons. I was fighting against one dragon, lizard, and human, but they were too much for me. When I defeated the lizard, the human demon and the dragon caught me in a trap, but then they disappeared in the blink of an eye. I still don't know what it was. I just know it was some of Ina's magic. It looked like tentacles spawned from her body and started beating demons, and in the end, those tentacles ate the demons' souls. It was terrifying. I could hear their agonizing screams. I was glad that Ina was never our enemy and never will be.

After two days, I was well-rested. In the morning, Ame and I took a bath and ate breakfast, and then we met in her living room. We were sitting on her sofa and didn't talk at all for a while. I tried to start a talk, but when I spoke, I immediately stopped myself. I couldn't say anything. I loved her. I didn't want her to get injured, or have anything bad happened to her because of me. Then she asked sadly "Are you ready?" I guessed she was a little sad because she cared about her town. I said yes. I got up, then came to her, hugged her tightly, and said, 'What's bothering you, Ame?' she had tears in her eyes.
'I wonder... What if we lose? What if we don't find them? Who will take care of our homes? What if we...' she started sobbing more and whined. I hugged her even tighter, and she hugs back.
'Do you remember what they told us about our training? Together we are invincible.'
'But what if they won't come with us...?' She asked while lightly pushing her head on my chest.
'Then I would be happy to spend my last days with you.' I said with teary eyes. She saw that I was crying too, so she held me closer. We stayed like this for a while, but then she said:
'Okay, my little sharky. Stop crying, or you'll turn my house into an ocean' she smiled and chuckled. I didn't know how, but I laughed and cried at the same time.
After a few next minutes, I stopped sobbing, and then we decided to go. We didn't have too much time because, every hour, Demon Lord could start trying to take control of the whole world. We got out of her house, and then she asked me if I would lead us to the place where Ina was. I said I'll try. I focused on finding a path to Ina, and I felt that. This feeling was a little less sensitive than when I was trying to find the way to Ame, but I still could find a way.

We left Zemien and went south. I asked if Ame wanted to go back home, but she said, 'You, dummy!' Her face blushed a little. 'We have a mission to do!' I was a little shocked. I knew I could always rely on her, and it made me happy. 'As long as I'm with you, I'm fine going anywhere.' We both blushed at what she said, and we tried to take it off our minds during our walk. We were going down the dirt road for a long time. The night was approaching, and we had a two day walk to Gorton and a few days more to Ina's house. We decided to take a break and sleep on the spot. We set the fire and sat around it. The sky was clear tonight, and this moment was beautiful. Finally, we could forget about everything around us: about our mission, about a whole world, and everything else. It was just Ame and me. We were singing songs, joking, talking about the old days, and no one disturbed us. I cried with happiness because Ame sang a song she had made especially for me. Then we did stargazing. We imagined so many patterns: a heart, a shark tail, a dog, a magnifier, and so on. After that, we lay down on the grass, close to each other. She held my hand and said, 'I wish this moment never ends,' with a smile.
'And so do I, Ame... And so do I...' I spoke. 'Umm... I- If we get out of it together, we can do it every night,' I said quietly, and my face blushed. Her face crimsoned too.
'Dummy...' she peacefully said, 'of course we will!' she told me out loud. At this moment I started to cry a little. She said, 'Don't cry, my little Gura. Don't cry,' and hugged me tightly. I pressed my head against her breasts, hugged her even tighter, and started crying.
'I... I was missing you so much! My heart was hurting for so long! I don't want to lose you again! Don't leave me alone!' I screamed with lament in her chest.
'Aww... Don't worry. Everything will be okay. Trust me, okay, Gura?' she told me as she ran her hands through my hair. I kept hugging her tightly, and dozed off. The night went by calmly. Nobody disturbed or attacked us, so we were well-rested. The campfire went out, and the sun started shining.
