"I don't agree with Harper," was what the boy said to me. His weird eyebrows were set firmly.
"And?" I asked, tired.
"I need you by my side. Look at this mess, it's all Thomas's fault," Gally blurted out. "Robbie was a friend of mine too, okay? So was Alby. And now they're dead, because of that boy."
I was tired of listening to this.
"Before you interrupt me, I want to tell you that I was stung too, several years back. I have some memories with me, and I knew right away who Thomas and Teresa were. They're spies," he tried to persuade me. "And you were there too."
I stood upright at this.
"What?"
"You were there, it was always you, Thomas, and Teresa. They loved you three and favored you all. But you hated it. Teresa and Thomas accepted it at the end, but you hated it. Then, you did something. Something that got the Creators mad, and you disappeared for a while. Only when I was in a tube, you showed up. You showed up and you apologized before I fainted," Gally ranted.
"So that's why you're trusting me? Because I apologized before you were sent up here?"
He shook his head.
"I trust you, and I need you, because you were one of the only people who would cleverly stand up for what was right," he concluded. "You're also important to the Gladers here. Have you ever realized that everyone goes to you for advice, and to be cheered up? You're different, and you're strong. You haven't even cried whenever you were hurt, or whenever you lost someone."
I stood there, quietly thinking. Then, I made my decision.
"Alright. I'll stand by you. Just don't hurt Newt or Minho or the others."
He grinned at me and nodded.
For now.

"You really think I'm gonna let Thomas back into the maze after what he has done? Look around you! Look at our Glade! This is the only way. And when the Grievers get what they came here for, everything goes back to the way it was," Gally ranted.
I stood by him, holding the sword-like thing that I used so comfortably after slicing the griever's arm from Chuck. I think it was called the katana or something like that. Thomas was unconscious, and Teresa was tied up to a pole. Her eyes dug into mine, pleading with me to stop.
I averted my gaze, and heard Gally order something that made me nauseous.
"Tie him up."
I watched intently as two boys picked up the unconscious Thomas to tie him to another pole. I smirked a little when he got up, kicking the boys and joining forces with Chuck, Newt, Minho, Teresa, Vera, and Ren. Several other gladers also joined him, standing in front of the maze.
"You're full of surprise, aren't you?" Gally spat.
"You don't have to come with us, but we are leaving. Anyone else who wants to come, now is your last chance," Thomas glanced around the Glade. His eyes landed on me, and he looked startled. I met his inquiring and shocked gaze with a blank expression.
"Zia, please," Teresa begged. Now everyone's attention was on me.
'Why aren't you coming with us?'
Thomas asked.
"Don't listen to him, he's just trying to scare you," Gally spoke, looking around at us, especially at me.
"No, I'm not trying to scare you. You're already scared. I'm scared. But I'd rather risk my life out there than spending the rest of it in here. We don't belong here. This place isn't our home. We were put here. We were trapped here. At least, out there we have a choice. We can make it out of here. I know that. Gally, it's over. Just come with us, you too, Zia," Thomas persuaded.
I chuckled.
"Did you really think I would trust you guys to take care of yourselves?"
I walked towards Thomas, and clapped my hand on his shoulder.
"Quite a scare you gave them, idiot," I muttered in his ear. He smirked a little.
"I'm not leaving. This is where I belong," Gally grit his teeth.
He turned away from us stubbornly, and I felt sad. Gally and I might have argued several times, but we were still friends who understood each other. I knew why Gally was being so stubborn, and I knew he knew I would choose the others. We had a mutual agreement to not interfere with each other's choices, and Thomas led the group down the hall. I ran next to Newt, who was running pretty well, considering his leg.
"You gave me a scare back there," he grit his teeth.
"I know, I'm sorry," I flashed a small smile.
"You know, about what Harper said back there-"
"It's okay Newt. It doesn't affect me," I lied through my teeth.
He simply nodded, then grabbed my arm. I turned around to look at him and was startled by the intensity of his gaze.
"Remember what I told you before you got trapped?"
"Be careful? Or..."
"I meant it, ZI. I don't know how, but... I love you. Remember that in case we don't make it out," his eyes bore into me, and I could feel my heartrate pick up.
"I... I can't say I care for only you because that's a lie," I confessed. "But I do care. Deeply."
He nodded. "I understand. I'm not rushing you."
We smiled and ran after Thomas. We halted for a second, and I heard Thomas call out.
"Zia, Newt, Vera, come here."
I rolled my eyes and marched up to him. Newt chuckled at my attitude. I saw Vera blushing a little while walking towards us from her previous spot, which was next to Clint. I held back a squeal, Minho didn't.
"Alright, in all seriousness, what are we going to do?" Thomas asked.
"What, you didn't have a plan?" I asked, amazed by his usual idiocy.
"Funny how I'm not surprised," Minho scoffed.
"I just had a plan on how to get us in here," Thomas said.
"We have the code, we know there's a computer at the end of the griever hole," Teresa listed.
"And you two have to enter it," Vera concluded.
"No, three of us," Tommy argued.
"Zia, I never had the full opportunity to tell you my memory, but... you were with us. You were part of the Creators with me and Teresa. I can't remember how you ended up here, but you weren't supposed to be here. We did this to them, we built it and watched them run in the Glade and the maze," Thomas explained briefly.
"And what's that got to do with this?" I asked. "We aren't our past selves anymore. We've all changed."
"Come with me and Thomas, we'll enter the code together," Teresa finished.
