Obviously Dean didn't come to see me for the next three days i was in the hospital. I was still getting over what had happened myself. It was in the last day in there that i saw the news report.
"Dean Winchester makes formal apology for comments against racing rival Castiel Novak"
It took me a moment to absorb the information, then I read on. Dean was quoted as saying:
"A friend recently opened my eyes to the truth. Everybody is the same in the end, no matter their race, sexual orientation, or gender. I was ignorant to assume my words wouldn't hurt, and stupid to have broadcasted those words to the world, whether i believed what I said or not. I want my fans to know i do not condone predjudice of any kind, and to the F1 world: Yes, Castiel is Gay, but no, he is not different. He is, and will always be, one of us."
For a moment i just stared at my phone, reading and rereading the words.
Dean Winchester... was not evil.
Furthermore. He was not straight. The day of the race, I watched my substitute get into his car with a frown. Then I saw Dean. And for once, i smiled.
The race was over as soon as it had started, and if course Dean won, but this time I found myself not hating him for it. Not that i was pleased either.
He jogged up to me in the parking lot. I knew something was wrong before he opened is mouth.
"Winchester? What is-" He dragged me behind a nearby van, concealing us bith from the rest of the lot.
"You can't tell anyone about what happened in that hospital!" He hissed, pressing my back to the cold metal of the van.
"Who do you think i am?! I wasn't going to!" I paused, calming my anger as best i could. "What did happen?"
Dean looked taken aback. I suddenly realised how close we were, i could feel his breath tickle against my neck as his breathing hastened.
"Nothing." He snapped. "I dont- i-" He stumbled for words, his eyes darting down to my lips.
"Does this feel like nothing?" I asked, trying desperately to slow my heart rate. He shook his head, his hands balling into fists at his sides.
"Its okay Dean..." I layed my hand on his bicep, catching his darting eyes and holding his gaze steadily. He relaxed visibly, and then his hands were at my waist and his lips were on mine. Lost in the rush, i forgot how long we stayed like that, kissing slowly and tenderly. He pulled away eventually, his face as red as the first time we had kissed.
"I don't know.... why... what... What am I doing?" He stammered, frozen in place.
"What feels right." I smiled, holding his face in my hands. "There's nothing wrong with you, nothing wrong with this. I know your confused. I've been where you are. I can help you-"
"No" Dean pulled away abruptly, all previously closeness gone. And then he was gone. Again, i was left confused and flustered.
