Chapter 8

*HARRY'S POV*

Sitting across the room seeing her laughing with my friends just makes me happy for some reason, and the fact that I know what I have planned for the concert makes me even happier.

"Alright guys time for sound check" I hear Paul's voice coming from the doorway.

"Do we have to?" I heard Mitch from across the room whining like a five year old. "Im busy talking to my new best friend."

"Hey" I snapped my head to look at Mitch.

"Sorry bro, can you blame me?" He said with a shrug. "Fair enough" was all I had to say.

"Cmon guys"

"Alright alright we're coming" Mitch says still acting like a five year old.

"Hey Ev come watch" I say standing in the doorway whilst she's the only one left in the room.

"I don't want to be in the way."

"Hey what did I tell you" I said pointing my finger. Does she not know how amazing she is. She will never be in the way and I need to make her understand that.

She rolled her eyes and followed me out of the room and down the hall to the stage. She followed Paul down the stairs and sat on a seat at the side of the stage in the front row.

Since we were late to the arena we only sung a few songs for sound check. Kiwi, woman and Carolina. Me and Mitch goofed off a bit during Carolina going crazy during the la la la's and seeing Ev laughing from the corner of my eye made me smile.

*EVELYN'S POV*

Harry's on his second song, woman, and I can't take my eyes off of him. The way he gets so into his music, the way he sings into his mic, tilting his head, the way he smiles, it all leaves me mesmerised.

During the next song, Carolina, him and Mitch started to goof off which made me laugh. He saw me out the corner of his eye and smiled which gave me butterflies.

The sound check ended pretty quickly and everyone had left so it was just me and Harry left in the room.

He signalled me to come up onto the stage so I sat on the edge and he came and sat next to me.

"You're an amazing singer you know that right."  That sentence coming out of his mouth caught me off guard.
I didn't know what to say. So I just shook my head and smiled.

"If anything I should be saying that to you."

"Why do you doubt yourself so much?" He looked at me right in the eyes like he actually cared but I dont know if it's the right time to tell him...

"I wasn't always like this you know."

He lifted his eyebrows like he was confused.

I took a deep breath and decided that it was now or never. "Two years ago" I cleared my throat trying not to cry at the memories and stared at my legs swinging over the edge of the stage. "Two years ago, I was the happiest I have ever been. Me and my best friend had both gotten into the same college and we were both on the same music course. We wrote a few songs, did a few performances, but at one performance we got spotted and were going to be signed to a label. They said we were going to be huge..."

"So what happened?"

Tears started to slip out so Harry shifted himself across the edge of the stage to sit right next to me and started rubbing my back.

"Sky died about a year and a half ago."
