Severus grabbed Lily's arm practically dragging her into Three Broomsticks. "Just sit with me and you're gonna see. "You're gonna see it, Lily! He's nothing but a pig head, slimy, egotistical playboy!" Severus barked passionately.

Lily rolled her eyes at her best friend. "Severus I don't even like him. I think he's a certified cretin. Why do you even care?" Lily did not feel like entertaining another one of the famous James-Severus pissing contests.

"That's how it starts then he'll use his classical charm to swindle you into believing he's a marriage material when he's just another dashing rogue in gentleman's clothing." Severus sneered at the thought of James being with Lily corrupting her mind with his foolishness. Them having a baby and breaking his heart, but he'll have to suffer silently.

"First of all, you need to stop reading those romance novels about handsome rogues and thieves. Don't deny it I know it's true. Second, off you just called James dashing, so maybe this isn't about me?" Lily smirked.

She loved making jokes about James and Severus dating. The idea is bizarre, but she could see it happen. They were both stubborn, intelligent in their own ways, courageous in their own ways, and are both determined once they set their eyes on something.

Now that she thought about it Severus could've made it into Gryffindor if he wasn't set on being in Slytherin.

Severus grumbled under his breath. Like a best friend, Lily could always see through his bullshit.

James showed up late to the event and brought along his buddies, Remus and Sirius. Peter couldn't show up because "Someone" cast a slug-vomiting spell on him.

"You never said he'd be here."
James growled directly at Snape.

Lily hid her face in her hands. The way she saw it this could only end in second-hand embarrassment for all involved. "I'm so sorry he made me." Lily apologized.

"Well I already brought the butterbeer might as well sit and drink." Severus shrugged.

"Just what are you planning Snivellus?" Sirius didn't trust Severus as far as he could kick him, so it wasn't odd for him to question the Slytherin half-blood motives.

"Let's just say it's a temporary truce." Severus came back to the table with glasses of butterbeer.

"I'll have some in honor of you Evans." James winked as he sat down in the booth along with Remus and Sirius.

While James flirted with Lily Severus made sure to be specific about what drink he gave James before sitting down.

"Oh wait a minute." James reached over and swap Severus' drink for his own. "What are you doing?" Severus gulped.

"I mean it shouldn't matter which butterbeer we drink, so cheers mate." James chugged his. Severus drunk his drink nervously.

Severus couldn't help but feel smug. He knew James would swap their drinks, so Severus gave himself the spiked butterbeer. With his skills, he could be an actor or a spy. "So James how are things in Quidditch?" Severus asked.

"I like how my track record looks, but I can't help, but feel I can do more." James looked confused after he said it. "Not that it's any of your business Snivellus," he growled.

"Another question. Do you like Lily romantically and why do you flirt with her?" Severus demanded an answer like a little tyrant.

"Of course he does you little freak-" Sirius tried to defend James, but he ended up being interrupted by James himself.

"Nope, not at all. She's cute, but I just flirt with her to be close to you. Under all that snarky bullshit you're kinda cute, how quick-witted, nerdy, skilled, and strange you are, enhances that cuteness. Makes me wanna bend you over a mirror and show you how cute you are." James said all of this with perfect confidence.

The entire booth was in a stunned silence, except Remus who was choking on his butterbeer.

"I didn't know the potion would be this strong. I just wanted him to admit he was faking the flirting." Severus was in utter disbelief.

"Wait you did this!" James was red hot with rage.
"10...9...8" James was practically foaming at the mouth.
"What is he doing?" Severus asked.

"7...6"

"He's giving you a headstart," Sirius smirked. "Sevy run!" Lily yelled. Severus didn't have to be told twice.
He fled from the building like it was on fire.
