James looked up at the ceiling. "My life is over. I have to drop out, move to another country, and change my name." things were looking and feeling bleak for James.

"Severus Snape. Of all the guys you could choose to like you pick Snivellus. Prongs if you like men then why not date a Gryffindor or Ravenclaw. Hell, I wouldn't mind you settling for a Hufflepuff." Sirius was still recovering from the reveal.

"I didn't choose to like him it just happened. Have you seen how cute he is when he's being sassy? I can't help it." James sighed. The heart wants what it wants never mind if it makes any sense.

"I think I'm gonna be sick." Sirius sneered.

Remus rolled his eyes at his friends' overreactions. "Did you try to talk to Severus? Maybe if you tell him how you feel instead of chasing him like a mad man he'll return the feelings." Remus suggested.

"Alright I'll try, but if I get humiliated I'm pranking you hard Moony." James would have to summon all of his Gryffindor courage for this.

Ever since first, when Severus said 'he was one of the most Clever wizards in school, but he had the maturity of a toddler' James' heart was captured. He couldn't explain it at the time, but that fact someone saw actually noticed he was smart, lit a special fire inside of James.

He knew he was going to follow Severus Snape to the ends of the earth. Unfortunately, James' idea of doing this was bullying Severus.

++On the other side of the school

Severus was curled up on the grass with his head rested on Lily's lap. "James Potter is in love with me. James moronic Potter. This is the worst thing he's ever done. What am I supposed to do with this information?"

"Sevy calm down. You can just turn him down and focus on getting through sixth year." Lily stroked his greasy hair. She didn't care about getting her hands greasy at the moment.

"Speak of the devil?" Lily rolled her eyes as she saw James coming uphill.

"How did he know I'd be there?" Severus said as if James wasn't constantly appearing near him out of nowhere.

"Um hey, Sniv- Snape. I wanna talk about what happened earlier." James said seeming awkward. It was rare he'd be awkward with someone other than close friends and his parents.

"Can we talk alone?" James said looking directly at Lily basically asking her to leave.

"So you can try to pull one of your stupid schoolyard 'Jokes' again I don't think so." Lily wasn't all too certain that this wasn't an elaborate cruel prank to humiliate Severus.

"Lily give us a minute please." Severus got up from her lap. He didn't want her to go, but he couldn't let himself be embarrassed in front of her.

Lily reluctantly left to give the two privacy.

"I don't get it? If you like me romantically then why torment me?" Severus tried to stay nonchalant, but couldn't he hide his hurt.

"I just needed an excuse to be near you. I thought if I was your friend and ever told you I liked you it would end badly." James admitted with great shame.

"That sounds stupid. Not to mention why would you flirt with Lily? what if Lily ended up falling for you because of your stupid flirting." Severus couldn't let go of the fact James pretended to like Lily this pissed him off for more than one reason.

"I didn't consider that, but it's not like she liked me anyway and if she did I could've turned her down. Severus, I like you. You're very special to me." James said as if that suggestion was genius.

"Potter if you broke her heart like that I would not only stop liking you, but I would despise you." Severus tried to make him understand.

"Wait you like me too?" James flash that cocky smirk that drove Severus crazy.
"In a manner of speaking." Severus' face was red hot.

James moved over to plant a kiss on Severus. "What in Merlin's beard do you believe you're doing?!" Severus jumped away.

"You said you like me." James was confused. He did everything right. This was the part they make out and adopt a creature.

"I said in a manner of speaking. You're very charming, but you're still childish and a few pretty words can't erase six years of bad blood." With that Severus left James and alone with the shattered remains of his pride.
