It was the middle of September, so the school year hadn't been going on for very long. I was 15. I had just started high school and already I felt out of place. If I'd see couples kissing in the corner, I would think "Why am I still single?" If I saw kids sitting with groups of people looking like they were in a movie, my mind would say "Why am I not popular?" But overall, school was pretty cool.
I was walking around campus trying to find Chloe, my best friend. She was weird like me so we usually had similar thoughts.
"Hey, nice sweater!" some girl smirked at me. I normally couldn't care less about what other people though of me, but today I was so panicked.
Then before I could even look at my sweater to silently defend myself, the bell rang. "Oh shoot!" I said sharply, under my breath. I had science next. It was all the way on the other side I the campus. I quickly ran past the "Walk in the Hallways" sign and nearly tripped over a janitor. What a relief I didn't because I don't think dirty mop water goes well with a light blue Aeropostale shirt.
Finally I made it to class. I was the last one to come in so of course everyone's eyes were focused on me. I hoped they weren't looking at my sweater. I quietly went to my seat and took out last nights homework. "Chloe! There you are!" She sat by me in science so I don't know why I was worrying.
"What'd you get for number 34?" I looked away from Chloe and stared into those dark eyes. "Um..." I replied.
