Carter's POV
She glanced over at me. I was just staring at her with a weird look on my face. That must've seemed weird. That's probably why she quickly looked back to the teacher. But I didn't.
She liked me? Alyssa Anderson liked me. It was a lot to process. I just didn't think anyone would like like me, let alone her. But I didn't care. No! I definitely didn't care. I liked London. She was cute, sophisticated, and smart. I did not like Alyssa!
She was just a friend. Sure she made me happy, but lots of things do. London gave me butterflies when she spoke. Then again she does do that to every boy. Why did I have to like the girl named after where she was from, the girl with and accent, the girl who was so pretty she almost made guys fall over. I just liked the most obvious choice.
But why did she have to tell me she liked me yesterday? I was going to ask out London today. Now I have to rethink things. Wait no! I don't. What is there to rethink? I like London! And only London.
"Alyssa is just a friend." I thought to myself. Then she turned her head and looked at me all weird. "Did you say something?" she asked. Oh crap! Did I speak out loud? I shook my head, desperately hoping that she didn't catch anything. Alyssa just shrugged and turned away. Woah! That was close.
I managed to get out of science without another incident. I decided to try and go catch London. I was going to do it! I was going to ask her out! I walked up behind London and nearly tapped her shoulder but called her name instead. "London?" I asked nervously.
"Hm?" she looked up at me. I could feel a chickening-out coming. "Well... um I..." My eyes widened from the lack of conversation ideas. "Bye!" I rushed away. I don't know what happened! I was so sure I was going to do it! I was sooo sure that I was.
I got home and kicked off my shoes lazily. My dog Doug raced per to me and licked my face. "Agh! Doug!" I yelled through licks. "Gross!" Afterwards I got up and ran up the stairs to my room.
Time to start homework! Ugh. No homework for English, good! Study for math test tomorrow, ha sure. Essay for history, due Monday of next week. And science. Crap! I was to busy paying attention to Alyssa that I didn't look at the homework assignment on the board. I texted Joe but he didn't reply. I called Manny, he didn't pick up. I tried to ask all the people that I had some sort of contact with, that were in my science class. No answers. I had only one more choice.
I went to the name on my list. Alyssa.'Hey do you have the homework for science'
She replied five minutes later. Like I knew she would. 'Yah'
'Well could you tell me what it is'
'Maybe' she added with a smirking emoji. 'Why don't you know it'
'I wasn't paying attention lol'
'Wow'
'What?"
'It's just that a boy said lol that's all' I smiled to myself without really meaning to.
I rolled my eyes. 'Anyway can you please tell me what it is'
'It's to read page 465-477 and wrote a summary and draw an example of each'
'Ugh!'
It took her a while to reply but it came soon enough. 'Yah well bye'
Well that was a bit odd. Usually I said goodbye first. I guess maybe it's because she told me she liked me? I felt myself become slightly disappointed that she didn't want to continue the conversation. Wait what? No, I'm not upset. I don't care. My brain was just making me try to be nice. Yah that was it.
I got to work on my homework and forgot all about what happened at school today. I was just being nice. Nice. That's all. Nice... That's all it was, right? Just being nice. Right?
