*Scarlett's POV*

I was jumping across the rooftops trying to shake the scouts that were chasing me, because of that stupid store owner who didn't like the fact I stole some food from his store, it also doesn't help that humanity doesn't care for my kind. I'm from the underground, where killing and stealing is our way of living sadly. I decided to jump from the rooftop towards the street in hopes of shaking my pursuers. I wasn't paying attention when something or someone collided into me hard causing me to fall to the ground, loosing my breath in the process.

'Fuck' I thought to myself before getting up and dusting off before making sure my Cloak hood was still on, I couldn't let them see who, no more like What I truly am. The scouts if they knew what I really was would turn me into the military police instantly. Im the only one left of my kind that still has the ears and tail, My mother abandoned me years ago because she ended up getting a special surgery that removed her ears and tail making her look human, after that she took my brother and set her sights on the surface world to live a better life with my brother and only my brother. Being alone never really bothered me, anyway because then I never have to risk getting attached to anyone means less people who care about what happens to me.

I started running when someone tackled me to the ground hard once again knocking the breath out of me as I closed my eyes and clenched my teeth in pain. Once I opened my eyes, I looked up at the person who was pinning me down, the guy had raven black hair and steely grey eyes. 'Wait he seems familiar' I thought to myself as I moved my hands up to signal that I surrender.

"I'll go with you." I said softly as I looked at the raven-haired man, little did he know I had other plans.

"Okay I'm just gonn-" The grey eyed man started to say before I kicked him off me. 'That voice!' I thought as I realized who the who was in front of me was, he's Levi Ackerman, Humanity's strongest soldier and my old best friend, well ex best friend.

"ACKERMAN!" I Growled as Levi stood up, he gave me a confused look as he dusted himself off.

"Do I know you?" He said monotony as he stood there with his blades out ready to fight. 'No way He forgot' I thought to myself as I stood there looking around trying to find Isabel or Furlan, but I couldn't find their faces anywhere amongst the scouts surrounding us 'Where are they?' I thought to myself sadly.

"YOU ONCE DID YOU BASTARD!" I snarled as I stood there waiting for him to say or do something. Levi stood there for a moment before charging at me reading his swords to strike, but as he swung his sword, I dodged him and his attack and took off running towards the entrance of the underground again trying to escape him.

While running I looked over my shoulder to find a very annoyed and angry Levi followed by his team of scouts using their ODM gear trying to catch me before I disappeared to the underground, as I approached the entrance I stopped and turned around just as Levi and a tall blue-eyed man landed in front of me. 'That must be Captain Erwin Smith' I thought to myself as the rest of the scouts that was chasing me finally showed up. I stood there making direct eye contact with Levi before smirking as I jumped down into the underground.

"Danmit!" I heard someone shout as I ran down the road, once I knew I was in the clear of the scouts, I started walking right before turning down an alleyway and jumping through an open window to get out of sight of everyone around. I closed the tattered curtain in hopes of staying out of sights of the people here.

"Levi... has it really been that long?" I whisper softly to myself before letting out a sigh of frustration as I let the whole situation replay through my head. 'Where were they?' I thought to myself as I slid down the wall and took my hood off revealing my Marron Colored cat ears.

Isabel Magnolia, Furlan Church, and Levi Ackerman were my closest friends at least they were my friends, and they were the only ones that knew about my cat ears and tail, they never wanted to cause me any harm or sell me to the highest bidder, in fact they accepted me and treated me like family up until the day they left me 4 years ago.

I was sitting at a table reading one of the books Levi got for me from their last trip up top on the surface. The book was called the mortal instruments: city of bones. Isabel, Furlan and Levi would always try to bring me back a book or two because they don't like me going with them due to the fact it's too dangerous, or at least that's what they always tell me, but one day I'll be able to go up to the surface and feel the sun on my skin and feel the breeze blow through my hair and fur but for now Ill just continue reading about that sort of things in my books. I decided to look up from my book to see a puzzled Levi staring at his teacup.

"Levi, I know what's bothering you and I say you all need to go this is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I know I'm the one holding you guys here in this shit hole." I say as I get up to put my book up on the little shelf we have. Levi just sighed as he shook his head. I knew I was the one that was holding them all here.

"Scarlett, you know that isn't true, we just want to protect you." Levi said as he stood up to head to the kitchen to wash our teacups. I follow behind him, grabbing my cloak and putting it on in the process. Levi stood at the sink while I stood against the door frame.

"Levi, you all taught me everything from fighting to surviving on very little to nothing. I think I can protect myself." I said as my tail started twitching in annoyance. I understand Levi and the other want to protect me, but they need to realize this is a once in a lifetime opportunity that not everybody gets, and I wouldn't be able to live with myself If I was the reason, they didn't take the offer.

"Tch. Fine, but we will come back and save you from this living hell." Levi said as he finished washing the teacups before turning to me with a sad and worried look on his face. I sighed and shook my head before walking over to him and giving him a hug.

"Levi don't worry about me, you promise me y'all will protect each other." I said sadly as I pulled back from our hug. It's going to be hard not having them here with me, but its fine ill see them again, someday.

"Scarlett, you stay safe and don't die down here." Levi said as he patted my head softly with a small smile. I smiled up at him as I tucked my tail under my cloak and put my hood on and walked to the door.

"Ill try to be back before you all leave." I said before walking out the door into the dirty street. 'I love you guys' I thought to myself as I started walking while trying to hold back tears, as I walked down a random alley, little did they know I won't be saying goodbye.

I dropped to my knees and let out a sob before letting tears of anger and sadness stream down my face before punching a hole in the wall out of frustration, as I pulled my hand out I froze moving my cat ears in the direction of the noise behind me during that process I reached down and grabbed the blade out of my boot, before turning around to find once again Levi Ackerman standing behind me with a smug look on his face.

"It's been a while, Scarlett..." Levi said in his signature monotone voice as he held his blade out at me.

"I fucking hate you!" I growled lowly as I ran towards him ready to attack as I swung my blade towards him, Levi dodged my attack before kicking me in the back which caused me to fall to the ground, but before he could pin me down, I rolled over onto my back before jumping up getting ready to attack again.

we both stood there for a minute before Levi decided to go in for the attack. He started running towards me getting ready to strike at me but before he could get me, I grabbed his arm and twisted it behind his back before knocking him to the floor while pinning his arm behind his back.

"Levi, what do yo-" I started saying before something hard hit the back of my head causing me to fall off Levi as everything faded to black.
