~3 MONTHS LATER~
I can't believe it's only taken me 3 months to climb the ranks to Levi's second in command, Commander Erwin was pleased by my skills at the recent battle of Trost. My training has been paying off as well, despite him being an asshole while training Levi has paid off. I was honestly happy, for once in my life I haven't had to deal with any pain or suffering anymore, Jessica and I have become best friends, hell some people say we act like long lost sisters honestly, I could see it because her and I are always together when I'm not with Levi.
"So, Scarlett you ready for the expedition coming up in a few days?" Jessica asked me as she took a bite of her bread as we walked to mine and Levi's office. Commander Erwin was okay with me and Levi sharing an office and living quarters since I'm only comfortable around Levi, I mean I'm comfortable around Jessica, I'd just live with Levi.
"Yeah, I'm almost fully packed, what about you?" I asked with a small smile.
"I'm nervous but I'm ready." Jessica said as we stopped in front of the big door leading to my shared office. I smiled as I gave Jessica a hug before walking in to find Levi sitting at his desk with his eyes closed while his head is leaning against the side of his chair in a light sleep. I smiled softly as I walked over to my chair and sat down as I grabbed the book Erwin gave me before cracking it open to escape this shitty reality, we live in.
*Levi's pov*
I woke up from my small nap to find Scarlett passed out in her chair with a book across open across her chest, I couldn't help but smile at the sight of her like this. This isn't the first time I've caught her like this, honestly if Scarlett had her way, she would spend every waking hour of everyday with her nose in a book and I find that adorable.
"Oh scar, you know you can't sleep with your books." I chuckled softly as I stood up from my desk to stretch before walking over to her and grabbing the book, closing it as I set it neatly on her desk before turning around to admire her beauty, the way her ears twitched while she slept, and the way her hair fell practically perfect around her face as she slept, along with how peaceful she looks every time she sleeps. 'And her smile we shes around me or Jessica.' I thought to myself with a small smile.
"I love you, Scarlett." I whispered softly before picking her up, carrying her to bed, and tucking her, then kissing the top of her head softly before walking out of the room and office to head down to the cafeteria to get some tea. When I arrived at the cafeteria, I was greeted by Hanje and Erwin talking about the expedition that was in a few days. I just walked past them to the kitchen to begin the process of making my tea, after about 5 minutes the tea was finally done brewing, I poured myself a cup before walking over to the two and sitting with them.
"So, what's the plan?" I asked blankly before picking my cup up by the rim and taking a drink of the warm liquid inside of it.
"We ride straight to Wall Maria to plug the hole in the wall and take back Shiganshina." Erwin said confidently before taking a drink of his water he had sitting in front of him.
"And if we're lucky the armored and colossal titan should show their ugly faces and we can end them once and for all while debuting my new invention." Hanje said with a chilling laugh, Erwin and I looked at her concerned, but we knew better than to stop her.
"Okay, we plug the wall and gate, kill all the titans inside the city and then the people of Shiganshina can go home." I said before Erwin nodded.
"This Expedition is going to be the hardest one yet but if we succeed this will be the biggest accomplishment for Humanity in a long time." Erwin said as he stood up before walking out of the cafeteria headed back to his office.
"Shitty glasses, get some rest before the expedition understood." I demanded before drinking the rest of the tea that was in my cup as Hanje nodded before leaving to her room, as for if she sleeps, I'll never know. I sighed as I stood up and went back to my office to get started on my paperwork that needs to be done.
~TIME SKIP 1 WEEK LATER~
One week has passed and it's time to go and take Shiganshina back and the get the biggest win in humanities history. I wasn't happy that Scarlett was going to be going with us on this extremely dangerous mission, but Erwin wants everyone to be there even the new recruits, which I thought was a bad Idea, but I knew I couldn't convince him otherwise.
"Levi?" Scarlett asked me as we approached the stables.
"Hmm?" I hummed my answer as I walked over to my black stallion as I held out a carrot for him. I never gave my horse a name because I didn't want something happening to him after being attached to him for so long, usually the people I love and care about end up dying or leaving me.
"I'm nervous." Scarlett said softly as she petted her horse, she named is magnolia after Isabel and I thought that was very sweet of her.
"I'll be there to protect you." I said as I fed the Carrot to my horse with a sigh. I was nervous on my first expedition as well.
"Yeah... so have you named your horse?" Scarlett asked trying to change the subject, and surprisingly worked.
"No, I didn't, I was scared of losing another thing I love." I said as I petted my horse softly, while thinking about the day I lost Isabel and Furlan.
I was ridding as fast I could towards Erwin when I heard a scream come from the direction, I left Isabel and Furlan.
"Shit." I mumbled to myself as I turned my horse around and ran full speed before my horse slipped on something causing him to fall to the ground kicking me off in the process. I quickly stood up and saw blood everywhere, before I saw a soldier barely alive slowly crawling towards me.
"Abnormal..." He said softly as he pointed behind me before collapsing dead. I widened my eyes as I turned around slowly to see a titan standing there holding Furlan in its mouth before biting him in half sending his upper body flying and landing next to Isabel's lifeless head.
"No!" I screamed as I leapt forward killing the titan in a fit of rage because it killed my friends, my family.
"You should name him Church, in honor of Furlan." Scarlett said sweetly while bringing me out of thoughts before walking over to the group of cadets waiting by the gate.
"Tch. Church it is." I said with a smile before hopping on Church before riding towards the gate with a smile, as I approached the gate, I heard Erwin start speaking.
"Cadets! When we get to Shiganshina everyone needs to keep their hoods on at all times so the enemy doesn't fine Eren Yeager as he patches the holes in the wall and gate! If the enemy shows their faces try not to engage! shoot off an acoustic shell to alert everyone that the enemy has shown up, now let's go make history!" Erwin commanded before turning and commanding his horse to start running out of the gate, leading us to the biggest victory in history.
