~Jessicas POV~
"Are we all that's left?" I asked while looking around at the few remains scouts scattered across a few rooftops. The scout regiment now only consists of me, Hanji, Scarlett, Eren, Mikasa, Levi, Jean, Conny, Sasha, and Armin, we are the last of the scut regiment.
"Yeah, we won but at what cos-" Scarlett started before dropping to her knees holding her side while coughing up blood.
"Shit..." I mumbled as I knelt down to check on her and her injuries.
"Fuck, it hurts." Scarlett cried before coughing up more blood while falling over being too weak to hold herself up anymore.
"Shit! Shit! Shit!" I said frantically as I examined her to discover she has three broken ribs from when Reiner grabbed her and threw her against the wall.
"I guess the adrenalins finally wore off huh?" Scarlett whispered softly with tears rolling down her face. Despite Scarlett being as strong as Captain Levi she still has her weaknesses. I just nodded and started to wrap her ribs up in some bandages.
"AHHH!" Scarlett screamed out in pain getting everyone's attention causing them all to come over to us.
"SCARLETT!" Levi shouted as he landed next to us followed by Hanji, but I didn't pay any attention to them because Scarlett was my main concern at the moment.
"Jessica, is she gonna be, okay?" Armin asked with a worried expression on his face.
"Scarlett..." Mikasa said softly while looking at the ground.
"She can't die on us!" Jean and Conny shouted trying to hold back tears, while Sasha just stood there holding onto Jean crying.
"Fuck!" Scarlett screamed again through tears before passing out from the pain. 'Shit!' I thought to myself as I quickly finished bandaging her up and covering her with my cloak.
"I should've made you stay, god do you have a death wish or something girl?" I asked before giggling softly, because I knew no matter how much I would've begged her she would've still gone.
"How the fuck did she get injured?!" Levi asked me and Hanji frantically. I just stood there shocked because I had never seen Captain Levi show this much emotion about anyone, Scarlett must be someone really close to him if he cares this deeply.
"Reiner grabbed her and threw her against a building, pretty hard, I tried to get her to stop but she was worried about everyone else." I said shakily while fighting back more tears, I already felt bad enough from letting Scarlett get hurt I didn't need Captain Levi jumping my ass as well making me feel worse.
"WHAT? SHE ALMOST DIED BECAUSE-" Levi started to shout before being interrupted by Hanji placing her hand on his shoulder.
"Levi, calm down! She's safe that's all that matters right?" I heard Hanji tell him demandingly, she could tell I already felt like shit, and I appreciated it.
"TCH fine! Let's get to the top of the wall! MOVE!" Levi commanded angerly while glairing at me, before kneeling down and grabbing Scarlett to carry her on his back before jumping off the roof and using his ODM gear to reach the top of the wall, followed by everyone else but me and Hanji. I just stood there watching as everyone reached the top of the wall.
"Scarlett is someone very special to Levi, come on let's get to the top of the wall and I'll explain what I know." Hanji said kindly and I just nodded and jumped off the roof using my ODM gear to rush to the top of the wall followed by Hanji.
When we finally reached the top, everyone was in their own little groups laughing and taking care of one another, I couldn't help but chuckle at the fact these kids still found a reason to smile despite everything that they just went through.
"Kids will be kids, I guess." I said softly while looking at Levi who was attached to Scarlett's side, he was covering her up with his cloak before sitting next to her and holding her hand, he had a worried look on his face and I couldn't help but feel guilty.
"Hey, its not your fault Jessica." Hanji said as she sat down on the edge of the wall looking out over the destruction of Shiganshina. I stood for a moment while looking over the city, there was so much destruction.
"Was this worth everything we went through?" I asked as I sat down beside her, it was still hard to believe that the ten of us are what's left of the Scouts.
"I don't know, and I never will, but as of right now we are alive and that's all that matters." Hanji said with a soft smile as she looked over at Levi and Scarlett.
"Hanji!" Armin yelled as he and the others came running over, they all seemed happy and relieved to see she was okay.
"We want to know about Captain and Scarlett." Sasha blurted out before Jean smacked her upside the head and called her an idiot. Hanji and I just laughed at them.
"Sit." Hanji said and everyone sat down around her and I, well everyone except Levi and Scarlett. I looked over at them to see him holding her hand to his forehead, I was shocked to see him crying.
"Hanji...He's crying..." I whispered to her I pointed at them, she looked and sighed before turning back to us with a smile.
"Anyways, as you all may have seen she is a Neko, she was born with a tail and Cat ears, her and Levi were friends before he joined the scouts, and when he joined he tried to convince Erwin to go on a mission and rescue her, but he denied it. Oh yeah! He also joined with two other people, but we don't talk about what happened with them. All you need to know is that they all were close friends, actually they were like family." Hanji told us with a smile, before she looked over at him, she was concerned for her dear friend.
"Wait Captain has friends?" Conny asked confused, followed by everyone else agreeing with the question. I just sat there looking up at the sky.
"Yes, but Scarlett is someone really special to him-" Hanji started to say before getting smack upside the head by Levi who walked over, he seemed to have calmed down and he had his usual look on his face.
"Scarlett is someone I care about deeply, I'm all shes got left and shes all I got left." He said sharply, before sighing. I could tell he was worried, but he wasn't going to admit to anyone.
"Ohhh! Now I see shes your girlfriend!" Sasha said abruptly, Levi just looked at her and walked away. I jumped up and followed after him, I needed to talk to him.
"I'm not mad." He said as I approached him, I stopped and looked at him confused for a moment, he was pissed earlier but now he's not?
"Levi please, I'm sorry she got injured..." I apologized as tears slipped down my cheeks, I was worried about Scarlett as well, she is my best friend, she always makes me smile.
"I knew she wasn't going to stay, shes a stubborn brat like the rest of them...But I can't lose her..." he said softly as silent tears started falling down his face, I just stood there shocked, he's never been this vulnerable in front of anyone, so I just put my hand on his shoulder and he just stared at me before nodding, I gave him a small reassuring smile before turning and walking away, that day Levi and her became closer and I was completely fine with that, honestly after today's course of events we're all that we have left.
