You see that bad ass right there ^? Yeah, that's me, Kaylynn. I'm on my way to a 2000s party for my birthday. Middle child of 2 other siblings, but clearly the Beyoncé of the family. Always been my daddy's favorite, that's why my sister hates on me.

I'm a young entrepreneur, being the owner of Charm Appeal, one of the most popular hair salons here in Tuscan, Arizona. I've been doing hair since I was 8, practicing on my Bratz dolls, or my dumb brother when he let me, and a week before my 21st birthday I opened my very own salon.

As of today, June 24th, I am officially 22 years old. ✨Cancer Season✨ I finished cosmetology school and got my associates degree in business in the same year, but that wasn't a shocker to many because i've always excelled in school. I was salutatorian of my high school class, falling short of valedictorian by .2 points.

Putting me aside (for once), lets meet my siblings. Here's my idiot brother, Devon, the oldest of the family. 23 years old, 24 in July. He's been in and out school for the same mechanical engineering degree since he graduated. I only say that because he was a year ahead from dual enrollment so he could've graduated at 22, but right now it's looking like 24 and counting.

See Devon's problem is his hood princess girlfriend, Yanna. She's 23 with a 4 year old son that my idiot brother plays stepfather to. They met at some graduation kickback at the end of Devon's senior year and i've regretted it ever since. Honestly, Yanna was cool in the beginning. We would hang from time to time even if Devon wasn't around. I even had a girls night with her and her people for her 19th birthday. But then Yanna popped up pregnant like 7 months later and had my brother thinking it was. I knew it wasn't, so I forced him to get a DNA test and of course I was right.

She immediately became the opp to me then.

Devon broke up with her and they didn't speak for like a year. I thought he was really over her and all the drama, but somehow she "i'm so sorry, I miss you" her way back into his life and it's been issues ever since. They're like the typical toxic couple now so I mind my business.

Last we have my ace boon coon, my ride or die, and my favorite person on this planet. My baby sister, Trinity, aka Minnie Me.

From the day Trin was born we were connected at the hip. Every single thing I did, Trin tried to copy. And I mean EVERYTHING. All the way down to trying to have the same friends as me or getting her hair like mine. Because of that, from age 12-16/17 me and Trin could NOT get along.

At all.

She was always in my room, in my clothes, in my shoes, in my phone, in my face. Just everywhere like an aggravating shadow. But once she hit junior year of high school and I graduated, she started to form her own style, personality, and friends.

Now you can't tell her fast ass nothing.

She finally started to realize how pretty she was, how smart and independent she was, how much of a personality she actually had without trying to be in the shadow of me all the time.

So now? We're back to the closest things walking, like Sienese twins. Especially since she's in that awkward phase where she wants to be independent and have her freedom, but still gets treated like a baby from our parents and can't do much about it because she needs them for so much. My baby's in school right now at The University of Arizona to be a cardiac nurse. I couldn't be more proud.

Now back to me.

"Dang sis, I still can't get over this ride." Devon grins as he rubs the blue interior to my new 2021 Jeep Trackhawk. It was a creamy looking gray with black accents and blue interior, and black rims with blue brake pads to match.

"I know right. This is easily my best birthday gift to myself thus far." I beam as I caress the steering wheel.

I glance at the time again, seeing that it's now 12 minutes past 10. I blow the horn as I yell at her out the window.

"Trin let's goooo! Hurry up!"

She flies down the steps from my apartment, still stuffing things in her purse. She immediately goes to the passenger side, quickly catching an attitude when she notices Devon in her seat.

She hops in the back. "Why you in the front stupid. You know I always ride shotgun." She whines.

"Should've been ready." He says simply as he scrolls through his music to find a good song for us.

"Whatever Devon" Trin replies, purposely pronouncing his name wrong because she knows it irritates him.

"It's Da-von, not Devin." he corrects her like we don't already know that.

I switch the ignition to drive and turn up the music, letting Lil Baby drown out their pointless debate.
