"Man it's some ugly hoes in here.." Devon mumbles as we get our tickets scanned for the party.
"Shut up" I chuckle, scanning the big, packed function we had just entered.
He was right. There were definitely some distasteful faces in here, but there were a lot of pretty ones too. I was just happy to finally go to a 2000s party that everyone participated in.
There were 2000s vibes everywhere: gold chains, big rings and bracelets, jerseys, crop tops, bandanas, mini skirts, oversized pants and wife beaters, the whole nine. Even the hair and nails that walked past me were on point, many being done by me off course, making me even more excited for the night. The doors had just opened at 9:30 and the huge mansion was already filling quickly with people, with a growing line forming at the door.
$luttyBoyz is one of the biggest promo teams here in Arizona's southern city area, we could see why. Every year they'd throw 1-2 huge parties with some type of theme, and Everything they did, they did it big. Last year they did a foam party, and the year prior they threw a glow party.
The mansion was bigger than it even appeared from outside, and the decorations were off the chain. Everything screamed 2000s, including the low sound of My Boo by Ghost Town playing through the speakers. This being my first $luttyBoyz party, I was very impressed with the entire set up. It was logically set up so that the cute picture booth was right across the way from the kitchen/bar area, keeping the loud, busy dance floor separate from the calmer area of the party.
My siblings and I quickly take a few pictures infront of the hip hop backdrop, and then I snap a few individuals of me and the Will Smith cutout. I literally love him so much.
By the time we make it over to the bar, Trin & Devon have started their typical socializing. For some odd reason, my brother is like... cute to people I guess. He even ranked #4 in the male category of "Eastpoint's Finest" his senior year of high school. Our high school was a little... unique I guess I could say. Don't judge us.
"Heyy Kaylynn" Ari, one of Devon's current flings, speaks to me with a smile.
I give her a small wave and continue to watch the bartender fix my Sex on A Beach. Remember, I mind my business.
I turn around and see Trin talking with her best friend, Raven.
"We're about to take some pictures hold on" Trin quickly says before running over to the photo booth before someone else gets in the way.
I speak to a few people as I lean against the bar and keep an eye on my little sister and my surroundings. I'm far from a celebrity, but i'm pretty known in this city because of my salon. I've even done an interview
with the news for their #SmallBusinessSaturday spotlights they do once a month, and I was featured in a magazine here. So I always try to be aware of what i'm doing and who i'm around.A loud " Damnnn girl let me get ya number" floats over my shoulder just as I turn towards the bartender to ask for a cup of ice. I instantly smile widely from the voice.
"How much you got to pay for it?" I smirk before turning around and pulling my best friend Mo into a hug.
Monique, aka Mo, is literally my "sister from another mister." We've been friends since we were 13 years old. We met in middle school and were practically inseparable from then. Sleepovers, cookouts, high school parties, prom, literally everything.
Despite any other friends we met along the way, it was always me and her forever. She's been here for everything. Every heartbreak, fight, breakdown, or drunk night. It has always been me and her.
"How have you beeennn oh my gosh I couldn't wait to see you!" She cheeses as she hugs me again.
Ever since we graduated high school and started our separate lives and careers, we haven't been able to hang nearly as much as before. We really only see each other for a few holidays unless it's a big event like my grand opening for my salon.
