"Wait a minute, old man," I say, "you must be mistaken. What do you mean 'next?' And how did you know our names before we told you?"
"You, Nya," he simply says, pointing to my sister. "Daughter of Ray and Maya Azeria, and a cat hybrid." Nya takes a step back and grabbed a photo from the mantle as the stranger addresses me. "Kai, son of Ray and Maya, younger brother to Nya, a fox hybrid and the Master of Fire."
"How do you know our parents?" Nya demands. "Who are you??" She grabs me and pulls me away from the stranger and holding me close around my chest.
"I am Sensei Wu Garmadon," he says calmly. "Second son of the First Spinjitzu Master, creator of this world and everything in it."
"But that was forever ago," I say. "Are you really telling us you're four-point-seven BILLION years old?!"
"No, Kai, baby, he's not," Nya says. "Whatever you want with us, humans aren't well welcomed in this city. State your business or leave." I love my sister!
"I merely want Kai to be an Elemental Ninja," Wu replies. "Defend our world against my evil brother, Lord Garma-"
"An Elemental Ninja?!" Nya shouts. "Are you CRAZY?! He's eleven!! I refuse to put my baby brother in that kind of danger!"
"It is crucial for the fate of the realm for him to join my team. If he doesn't, the realm itself will fall, and then others! Our world needs him!"
"Yeah, well, our world doesn't. So if you need my brother to help protect yours, maybe we've got a problem."
"Yes, maybe we do," Wu says. "If you are unready to send him into battle now, I will return when he is fourteen." He starts heading out the door, but I run to him in my fox form and wrap myself around his legs. I morph back to speak.
"Pleeease, Nya?" I say. "It'll be the most you've ever done for me!!" Nya sighs and walks to where Wu and I are standing.
"Fine, she says, "but only if I come along."
"Yay!!" I shout and foxify to run around the room excitedly.
"I'm never taking my eyes off him," Nya warns quietly to Wu before leading me back upstairs to pack.
