Chapter 1

Great, another visitor. As if our new life wasn't hectic enough without a new bear or wolf showing up at our door every day trying to make a friend. Not that I have anything against the bears and wolves - I just prefer the deer; they're much quieter. Maybe that's cause I'm a fox, who knows.

"I'll get it," Nya tells me sternly as I rise. Yeah, she's really sweet ... Or she just doesn't trust me to open the door by myself after what happened last time. Either way, I'm fine with it.

I walk upstairs to the window to try to hear what she and the visitor are talking about.

"Welcome to 4Weapons Mokilea, how may we-" she says, cutting herself off. Well, that's odd, I think. I hear some mumbling from another voice and a tap of wood on concrete. "You do? Uhm, okay, he should be upstairs. Come inside while I grab him." I then hear the door open and I run downstairs to the living room.

"Hi, bro," my sister says, scratching me under the chin as I sit down. She then leaves to grab something from upstairs, leaving me with the stranger. He was not, in fact, a Hybrid, but instead a smallish bearded man with a tall wooden staff, wearing a black kimono. Written in gold on the kimono were runes spelling the words "Sensei" and "WU." I haven't the slightest idea what WU means, so I quietly stand up and walk over to sniff his legs.

"You're a curious one, aren't you, Kai?" He says, laughing. He scratches me under the chin as I look him in his eyes. They are golden. "Interesting," I think. "How did he know my name before either of us told him?"

"I have heard stories," he replied, almost reading my mind. "Passed down from Master to Elemental Master."

"Elemental Master?" Nya asks, walking back down the stairs with an iced coffee in hand. "What's that?" I morph back to answer.

"Dad was one, remember?" I say. "And I'm one too, see?" I light a small fire in my hand to show her as the strange man gasps.

"It looks as if the stories are true," he says. "The next Master of Fire ... Is a Hybrid."
