I'm getting ready in a royal room for my wedding with Bran today, when I hear faint footsteps behind me.
But before I can turn around, a hand covers my mouth with force and q knife is drawn against my throat. My breath falters as the mirror in front of me finally allows me to catch the glimpse of the mastermind behind everything.
"Ready to die again, princess?", a sinister, hateful voice says from behind me and I can't even retort because of her hand on my mouth.
But, I don't have to.
A pistol is loaded behind us and drawn straight to the mastermind's forehead.
"Drop the knife and step away from my princess", Bran's voice is laced with venom and if I could speak, mine would be too.
The knife is withdrawn from my throat and I finally sigh with relief. Bran turns the mastermind around to watch the face of the person who betrayed us, but more specifically him.
"Ells?" He asks in disbelief, his voice shaky, but the gun in his hands held firmly. I grab the knife from the floor just in case.
"Why?" He asks with same disbelief and the answering laughter from her chills me to the core.
"Because I love you, B, that's why! Don't you see? She always comes between us. You are mine, yet you fall for her every damn time. So, she had to die, so that you can finally come back to me. I was so happy when I saw that you were coming back on your own, but then you changed your mind.
You know, I'd planned to kill her at the same place where I'd left you to die last time. What do they call it? Yeah - poetic justice. Your souls could have haunted that place together happily. But no, you saved her all over again!
Tell me Bran, why do you keep coming back to her? Why can't you just love me like I love you?"
"Because I love her, you crazy woman."
"And, I love him", I add immediately, "Perhaps you should realize that you're coming between us. Your hatred for me couldn't defeat our love for each other. Even if you'd have managed to kill us again, our souls would have come back in another lifetime. We'd be united, whether you like it or not."
She laughs all over again.
"Why did you kill him last time, though? You could have just killed me and he'd be all yours."
"Yeah I thought that too. I even professed my love for him. But he turned me down, so he had to die too."
"You're sick", Bran adds in disgust. "I can never love someone like you. Officer, please arrest her, we'll send you the CCTV recordings of this room as proof."
The officers cuff her hands and drag her out of the room.
"You're safe now", Bran whispers as he embraced me in a warm hug.
"Yeah, you too."
"When did you find out it was her?"
I chuckle at his afterthought, "I had seen a woman's shadow on the night of attack in the dark room. I remember the lady confessing love for you, but I didn't know for sure it was her. I had my doubts though. I'm sorry she did that to you, she was your best friend."
"I'm not sorry. All's well that ends well. Come now, let's get married."
I pull back from the embrace to look at his face.
"But it was a ruse to attract the mastermind."
"Yeah, but I meant it when I said we can get married whenever your ready. So are you ready?"
"To get married for real?" I ask again to confirm.
He kisses my nose lovingly.
"For real."
I pull him towards me as our lips meet a sweet, passionate kiss, that's full of love and promises for a lifetime of happiness and together.
"Okay, let's get married for real."
