they spent the whole song dancing together. elijah couldn't say he wasn't impressed, seeing dominic in his element like that. at first glance dom would seem like someone with no hobbies or interests at all, so this lowkey caught him off-guard. to him, this was a clear indicator that the older did have humanity behind his cold persona.
and why, elijah didn't know, but he felt a strong urge to get it out.
when he found tyler again, their 'duet' had ended. dom was probably roaming around here too, but the younger had lost him. it was like he disappeared into thin air.
eventually joining his date, who was enthusiastically clapping while leaning against a standing table, he gave up on searching for dominic.
"that was so cool!" he said, thumb pointing towards the dancefloor whilst he held a plastic cup filled with beverage in the other hand. elijah responded with a laugh, which was short-lived when he realized something.
"...you're not mad, right?" he asked.tyler, raising his brows, the bangs covering his forehead flowing up with it, took a sip of his drink. "why would i be mad?" he replied. elijah shrugged his shoulders as he went to explain himself.
"well, i wouldn't be surprised my date would be pissed if they saw me dancing with someone else." the shorter answered. tyler shook his head, a small but reassuring smile on his face.
a relaxing song came on, and slowly but surely everyone started crowding the main floor, slow-dancing with their dates.
elijah bowed in an extremely dramatic, courteous way, holding out his hand and saying, "may i have this dance?" tyler grinned and took his hand.
"that'd be splendid, my good sir."
they walked to a spot on the floor. elijah put his hands on the boy's shoulders and the latter rested his own on his hips. they started swaying from side to side, glancing between the room and each other every few seconds.
for some reason, making eye-contact was extremely difficult, which made him realize: what was he doing?
he didn't know what his feelings were towards tyler, but even so, he wasn't looking for any relationship right now.
romantic or not, he did genuinely like the boy. maybe i'd be nice to have another friend around here.
a good friend, maybe, after a certain amount of time had passed.if he didn't fuck it up, of course.

dominic stood by the side, arms crossed as he looked at elijah and his date.
the boy may be pretty, sure, but dom was positive that he was a dick. as he furrowed his brows as he watched the pair being lovey-dovey. he shook his head. elijah could do so much better.
wait, hold up, why was he even thinking about this?
he's dominic taylor for crying out loud, he owned this place, his will was the literal law around here, and he has all the power and sex he could possibly want. he doesn't care about some random boy he was doing a schoolproject with. dom didn't do jealousy. and to prove that, (to himself, probably), he left the crowd, finding a girl to dance with. he walked her to the dancefloor, taking a place. he didn't even look at the girl, he just gazed around, his third-person fit still going on inside his head.
elijah turned his head to see dom dancing with another girl. he frowned. dom had his hands straight up on the girl's ass. it grossed him out. he didn't even know why it bothered him, he danced with the boy one time. he furiously shook his head, going back to his own date, repeating to himself that he didn't care about dominic.
