Flight Into Australia

The fly back home with Peter was  long but bearably. Most of the way Peter slept leading me to finally finishing my Book *Emily In Italy*. The ending of the story made me sob; ending in a twist; they are never my favourite. Nothing has happened since I took in the pancakes from this morning but my appetite. I haven't eaten since than and my stomach hasn't rumbled one bit.   I watch two movies with one toilet break. I ate a packet of chips that tasted way too salty during the second movie called *Chao's Walking*. Peter only woke up when the plane gets another big turbulence; adjusting his headphones and shuffling in his sit. The sit belt signal comes on twice and another time for landing. "Did you want to hold my hand?" Peter offers his palm up on the chair rest. I nod my head not taking it. I hate landing, it always seem so long and painful to my ears. Imagine humans pain with the pins in there ears well, times that by three times worse for wolf ears.  "I know they said to come with me; but you're not expecting to stay at mine with my family?"  Peter grabs my left hand in my lap as if he needed too as well. "They will, you'll see" His voice is slow in a natural way.  "Are  you serious?" He gives me a nervous smile while caressing my knuckles with his thumb. I haven't brought any guy over to my parents house; I have no idea what they'll do and my mother will be in shock. I know for sure Ryan will spill out all the embarrassing stories about me . I cannot have Peter do anything to them. "What? Don't you even think about doing any" Peter cuts me off, giving me a good look of his face.  "They wont get hurt, besides don't they know about you?" His light brown freckles appear more dominate with the sunshine facing us through the air plane window.  "Please; just don't get weird" Not answering his question but it was an answer of some sort.  He rolls his eyes putting his headphones away into his back pack  and then takes a hold of my hand once again.  "You like my weirdness". We feel the wheels touch the ground and everyone cheers with clapping. It was the longest landing we all experienced. Like the plane was going in circles and then up and down twice.   We don't talk until we get our bags and head over to the pick up zone outside.  The air greets us with light warmth. By the time I see my parents pull up in the zone with Mother's red  Mazda car. I feel sweat about to drip along the side of my forehead but I give it a quick wipe. Mother gets out of the car on the passenger side. She is dressed in a red summer dress matching her big sunglasses; she wears a bright smile on her lips and even though she has her favorite hay hat on; she blocks the sun on her forehead. "Darling!" Her high pitch voice showing she is excited. "Oh who is this?" She takes off her sunglasses; her green eyes are bright against her dress she wears. "I'm Peter, I am Fiona's Boyfriend, You will greet me into your home and offer me to stay " His voice sounds similar to Hannah's but its also different. Like a melody that you can miss out very easy if you don't look at his eyes and lips.   Peter shakes my Mothers white gloved hands and in return Mother turns to me; giving me a quick hug; letting go of Peters hands.  "Oh I'm so happy, we thought you where gay! Not that is was an issue if you were Honey"   She  taps my hand. "Father will get those for you" Father gets out of the car just on right time and opens the boot; putting our languages in. Then Father gives me a tight short hug. "Where's Ryan?" I ask breaking the awkwardness that Peter is still talking to my mother at the front of the car. "His still in school" I forgot  that school is still in session. I hear mother get into the car as Peter comes to Father ready to shake his hand but he takes a step back in confusion. "His my boyfriend Peter; I hope you don't mind" Peter cuts me off shaking his hands "I am Peter your Daughter Boyfriend, You have invited me to stay on this visit" This goes way to fast for anyone to realize what's happening that I  feel the leather sits in the car as I'm hearing  Peter talk to both of them. So Peter's power is controlling,  either if its them thinking or a situations and time speed up. "Hey fucken; don't  do that again" I say under my breath knocking his knee with my knee against it . "What?"  Mother and Father are talking in there own conversation about which Disc of songs to put on; as the radio here always drops out. "Don't cut me off like that" I didn't mind him doing what he did with his powers.  It made it easy on me. To make up some thing that clearly leaves me blank and get them to believe it once I did found something to tell. "Sorry" He takes a hold of my hand giving me a kiss on the check. I feel my cheeks go rosy. I know he meant the sorry but that whole thing was an act. Mother keeps on glancing in the middle mirror. Mother slides in the discs where Maddie and Tae  *Girl In The Country* starts playing in the background of the ride. Father's skin is a little darker then I remember it and his fine lines around his eyes are more finer. I hope the farming work hasn't been to much on him since I left.   "You like chicken?" My mother ask while rolling down the window. No air conditioner in the car, right I forgot.  I roll mine down all the way letting the wind hit my sweat on my face and neck; cooling some of me slightly.  Peter replies in delight. The thought of food right now makes me nauseated. Father makes a Sharpe turn off the freeway; it doesn't take long; Maybe twenty minutes to we reach into our country town and then he makes another right turn; leading us to the front of our country house.  Mother gets out of the car to unlock and open the fence for us. As we drive past her, Father drive's in. Parking the car near the grey shed where all the horse's  are properly waiting for the afternoon feed.  Father stops the car getting out while fitting his boots back on his feet. Yes he always drives barefooted. We've had these argues many time before. Driving safely includes what you wear during it. He always says its better barefoot then wearing thongs. Although he never wears thongs. "Nothing has happened" I say under my breath knowing clearing Peter can hear it. "That's good" That it. That's all he says before getting out. Really is it? What if it didn't work? The wind starts to pick up as we settle into my old childhood bedroom filled with gothic dreads along the walls. The window thuds slightly while I see father getting a chicken for tonight's dinner. Peter doesn't say anything while he opens his suitcase onto the queen bed; he dodges his head to the right slightly avoiding the black curtains that are hanging across the bed frames on each side. Mother pocks her hand in the room with a quick knock on the door. "Its lovely to have you both here but just a couple of rules first before we settle in" She pause's showing us a small nervous smile on her lips. "Door open at all times" She taps on the door opening it. "Change in bathroom" She points to my bathroom onto the right. "Warm water close's at eight PM and doesn't come back on until six in the morning" She displays a slight frown "and everyone helps each other out around here that includes the outside work" She shows her teeth while nodding "Mum!" My voice sounded nervous. Life here going up wasn't easy; I have it so easy back at The University. "Yes sounds good, thank you, could I call you Mum?" Peter stands beside me wrapping his arms around my shoulders.Oh God no! "Stop it!" I say in a low hard grunt knocking him with my elbow. Mother frowns in a silly expression but only for a few seconds. "Names Julie but yes you can I guess" She shrugs her shoulders and heads to the living room where she start's folding a clean basket of towels. "Quite it" He needs to stop with his wolf powers. "I swear I didn't do anything that time" He lets go of me grabbing change of clothes and heads to the bathroom. I quickly change my top and shoes into a back T-shirt and brown boots. He gets out of the bathroom just in time putting on my last boot on. "Come on let me show you around the place" I say Surprising myself I would be doing such a thing. He might think this place is so lame and how could my parents afford the university I'm in now; because basically they cant. Damn education will send me working for a lifetime. Anything is worth it to get a high sore in life right? Peter follows me around like a puppy sometimes losing track to what we where dong in the first place. The house isn't to big, a small kitchen that leads to the living room; where my piano sits. Three bedroom with two bathrooms. The Farm though is where all the action is. We have six sheep that are very well shaved and cleaned that is always due to every Summer time. We sale the wool for a couple of bucks. Next to the sheep we have fours cows, all girls beside one and then we have a few ducks around the farm. We never brother to count them; there are way to many to count. They usually hang around the pound where the fence is around off at; but they always seem to get out. Father had made them a bank of hay beds and coverings for them four springs ago. Only baby ducks are in there with there parents. We have three goats around the farm, Janet is white and has a long goatee with thick horns that twist into an S. They don't get along with each other. One is with a donkey that Ryan named him Bruce and Janet is with a Carmel Horse her name is Diamonds. The other donkey is called Crude. He is black and white and always goes cross eyed when he see me. I don't know why I think his a very special one in the goat family. He played with me like he was a dog when I was younger, literally loved playing fetch with a ball. His much aged now though with more grey hairs around his mouth and one blind eye.   Even though we have a dog in the farm he and I never clicked. He was just a sheep dog, he knew his place and kept to himself; Father and him have a special bond though. Rex is his name but Father hardly needed to call out his name. Whistling and clapping gets Rex on his four paws faster. I guess you cant get along with every animal on the farm. I pat Crude between his little thin horns as he yelps in excitement and pleasure. I tell Peter about Crude and the adventures I went on through the hills beyond in front of us with the horses; now that we are in the shed. I start refilling the first bucket with fresh hay and carrots as Chewy the light brown horse begins nibbling at a carrot. Peter pick's up the water tray filling water into it. Peter hadn't said anything since inside the house besides nodding his head and hums a few times. I'm over here talking full on to the animals and a bit to him. He probably thinks I'm Crazy but I don't care what he thinks. Well not all the time any how, oh whatever shut it, I quickly think to myself. "You've been awfully quite, everything okay?" My voice sounds amuse while he starts putting new fresh hay into the second bucket. "Yeah, I have my quite moments; everything is good" He gives me a small smile as he refills water into another bucket. Chewy nudges me with his snout wanting a pat so I do. "Could I ask what Happened between Drake and you? "I pause letting Chewy eat his lunch peacefully as I go refill the last bucket with Hay. "He never does bad things unless you do bad on him?" I finish the question as Peter's body goes stiff but his hands patting Echo on her left shoulder; clearly ignoring him while she is enjoying her apple. "So that means you'd deserve what he'd done to you?" His grey eyes stare's into mine that send a knock into my chest making me step back slightly. He betrayed me and then I betrayed him so in a way it always comes back around. "Yes; I guess so, I did" His eyes look away from me. "Why?" I snap back not answering the question. "Answer mine first" I walk around him opening another shed door to the right side where the horse's gears are. "He made me an offer and I refused it" His jaws tense but they relax once Father pops his head in the shed; thanking us for feeding the horse's. We didn't get back into the subject of Drake nor; why I deserved all this for the rest of the day. Ryan's school bus comes rolling down the dirt road as we finish moving the sheep herd into two herds; with Rex running along the side of the sheep so they don't do a runner the other way. Ryan opens the gate not realizing I've come back home but once he looks up. Seeing me on the flied his face lightens up with a big smile even though I can see his right eye is black. His running with his backpack bouncing high up and down, his legs are lapping that every time his feet touches the ground the dirt lifts up into the air in a quick whoosh. He opens his arms ready to jump into my arms as I am already half way where Father packed the car. "Fiona!" His voice still so young and childish. His arms embrace me around my neck as I pick him up. "I've miss you so much buddy" His green eyes seems more bright on the right side then the left. "What happen to your eye?" I let him down while he run to father giving him a hug Hello. "Boys at school, he got into a fight" Father whispers into my ear while Peter and him shake hands. Ryan grins slightly. "Take care of my sister" Ryan points his fingers at his eyes and then back at Peter. A sign of; I got my eyes on you, watch it. Like his a strong tough boy. Maybe that's what the black eye is about. I hope its that and not that his getting bullied. Peter nods his head as if he was taking him serious. "Yes Sir" He salutes him and Ryan does it back. We both giggle, Ryan and I. For a second it got awkward but it ended when Mother calls us in to help with dinner. Father started with the chicken; cutting and stuffing it with species and Ryan peels the potato's and capsicums that he got from the garden. Mother sets the table; getting out her favorite wine for special occasions; although this wasn't one of them and Peter and I make a chocolate and strawberry Cake for dessert. Peter slices the strawberries smoothly as I mix the cake blend into the tray. We all talk and laugh like we always do. It felt very nature even though it might be Peters superpowers doing. The food is set on the table as Mother starts to pray. My belly starts to move inside like a tornado and my head feels heavy. The food on the table is a blur, my fingers start to tingle but the warmth is no where to be felt. I can't feel anything whlie my whole world falls side wards.
