The rain was pouring down, bouncing off the street. The young girl was walking in the middle of it, with no umbrella, no raincoat, nor anything to protect her from the downpour. She was already drenched to the bone, so no one could see tears streaming down her pale face. Then the boy comes running to her, grasping her wrist and turning her around.
"This is so cliché," commented the tall man from his seat on the couch.
"Shush, Khai." the smaller one stopped him, eyes glued to the screen before him.
"It's not even romantic." Khai continued.
"I like it." The younger one noted.
"What do you like about it anyway?" Khai scoffed.
"Dialogue." Third, answered plainly.
"Really, what is good about it?" Khai mocked him again.
"It's about to start. Just watch, and you will know." Third pointed at the television, forcing Khai to pay attention to the film they were watching.
The young couple were still standing in the middle of the road with a slight distance between them. The girl was crying.
"Looking at you makes it harder." The girl said.
"I didn't want to hurt you." the boy whispered, looking guilty. "But it never would have worked out," he added.
"You know that I love you," the girl paused, clenching her fists.
"I know you will find someone else." The boy encouraged her.
"You are lucky I love you enough to let you go," she muttered before running away, letting the boy alone on the rainy road.
The two boys were sitting silently as the heartbreaking scene ended. The smaller one was already crying a river.
"I still don't understand." Khai broke the silence.
"Because you are dense." Third commented, standing up and abandoning his best friend. His heart was in pain once again. Khai will never understand.
