Jay sat in his room, morosely staring at the ceiling when Cole swam in.

He had heard about what had happened and felt sorry for his friend. "You okay Jay?" asked Cole quietly.

"No, I'm not," Jay sighed before continuing, "My dad seems to think all humans are awful people, but he's never even met them!

I just wish he could see they're normal people just like you and me!

Jay sighed again, staring at the ceiling and Cole wished he could comfort the 13 yr old when suddenly two eels slithered in. "Poor child," one mused, "You sure have a problem."

"The sea witch could help you," the other eel prompted.

Jay was getting more and more worried by the second. "I don't think so," he declared, using dark magic to fix your problems never works.

"Are you sure about that?" The first eel asked. "Come with us and we can help you."

Jay didn't know, this seemed like a bad idea. But if it worked, he could see Nya again. He decided the pros outweighed the cons and went with them.

Cole, seeing this was not going as he had hoped, swam off to get Zane.

Jay traveled with the eels to a place in the sea he had never gone before.

Arriving at the spooky lair, he had to steel himself to enter. "Come in," said a grating voice. Jay entered completely to see a creature that matched his father's description of his uncle Clouse.

His voice shaking, he started, "y..you can help me?" "Why yes dear child.

Clouse: The only way to get what you want is to become a human yourself.

Jay: Can you do that?

Clouse: My dear, sweet child. That's what I do. It's what I live for.

To help unfortunate merfolk like yourself.
Poor souls with no one else to turn to.

I admit that in the past I've been a nasty
They weren't kidding when they called me, well, a witch
But you'll find that nowadays
I've mended all my ways
Repented, seen the light, and made a switch
To this
True? Yes.
And I fortunately know a little magic
It's a talent that I always have possessed
And dear buddy, please don't laugh
I use it on behalf
Of the miserable, the lonely, and depressed (pathetic)

Poor unfortunate souls
In pain, in need
This one longing to be thinner
That one wants to get the girl
And do I help them?
Yes, indeed
Those poor unfortunate souls
So sad, so true
They come flocking to my cauldron
Crying, "Spells, Clouse, please!"
And I help them!
Yes I do Now it's happened once or twice
Someone couldn't pay the price
And I'm afraid I had to rake 'em 'cross the coals
Yes I've had the odd complaint
But on the whole I've been a saint
To those poor unfortunate souls Have we got a deal?

Jay: If I become human, I'll never be with my father or siblings again.

Clouse: But you'll have your girl, heh heh. Life's full of tough choices, isn't it? Heh heh.

Oh, and there is one more thing.
We haven't discussed the subject of payment.

Jay: But I don't have-

Clouse: I'm not asking much, just a token really, a trifle!

What I want from you is - your voice. But without my voice, how can I-You'll have your looks, your pretty face.
And don't underestimate the importance of body language, ha!

The girls up there don't like a lot of blabber
They think a boy who gossips is a bore!
Yet on land it's much prefered for childen not to say a word
And after all dear, what is idle babble for?
Come on, they're not all that impressed with conversation
True ladies avoid it when they can
But they dote and swoon and fawn
On a boy who's withdrawn
It's he who holds his tongue who get's the one

Come on you poor unfortunate soul
Go ahead!
Make your choice!
I'm a very busy man and I haven't got all day
It won't cost much
Just your voice!
You poor unfortunate soul
It's sad but true
If you want to cross the bridge, my boy
You've got the pay the toll
Take a gulp and take a breath
And go ahead and sign the scroll
Kapow, Chop, now I've got him, boys
The boss is on a roll
This poor unfortunate soul Beluga sevruga
Come winds of the Caspian Sea
Larengix glaucitis
Et max laryngitis
La voce to me Now, sing! Aah...Keep singing!

Jay continued to sing and his voice was caught in a shell necklace that Clouse wore.

The octupus man then caught the young boy with his magic, causing his tail to split into two legs. Zane and Cole rushed into the room to see that Jay could no longer breathe under water.

The fish and crab spirited the now human boy up to the surface while Clouse laughed triumphantly.
