Canaan & Chanting

Chapter: Seven

Zara was sleeping with her head resting on Scott's shoulder in Malia's car. She scrunched her nose when she felt someone poking at her and she squinted and realized it was Isaac. She blinked a few times before leaning up and scanned the area through the window. She noticed Scott beginning to stir and map his surroundings before giving Lydia and Malia a puzzled look.

"Where are we?" He asked as he straightens in his seat.

"According to the GPS, we're here." Malia says as she pulls the keys out of the ignition.

"Canaan?" Zara mumbles as she rubs her eyes with her fingers.

"Yep, it's a literal... ghost town." Lyla says as she opens the door and lets herself out, Isaac follows after her. Scott and Zara climb out the other side of the car and Scott closes it behind them.

The pack take a moment to scan the area and then they share a nervous glance at eachother before walking down the streets of the abandoned town. It looks like a place that you would only see in horror movie, but her life was already like a horror movie so it only made sense.

"This is it" the twins say in sync, not even bothering to look at eachother, they're used to saying things in sync by now and the pack is used to it aswell.

"Ly was right, Canaan's a ghost town." Isaac says as his baby blues flicker around the area.

Zara wrapped her arms around herself as she felt a cols breeze while they walked through the street, she was wearing a band shirt and Derek's leather jacket, and she was a vampire so she was always cold but this... this was something totally different.

She was damn near shivering.

"Zara, you okay?" Scott asked sending her a concerned gaze.

She nods, her teeth chattering, "I'm j-just f-freezing, I don't know why."

"Here, i'll warm you up." He says as he throws his arm around her shoulder and holds onto her ice cold fingers. She lets out a small sigh as the werewolf's body heat started to warm her up.

"Thanks, Scotty." She says to her best friend, he just nods as he scans the area.

"There's not a single heartbeat here besides ours." Isaac announces as his fingers are clutching Lyla's.

"And I'm not catching any scents." Malia replies with her brows furrowed

"Me either." Scott replies, "I wonder why Stiles would send us here."

They all stopped when they noticed a light flicker, Zara squinted as she starred at the light pole. "Do we just.. ignore that?"

"For now, yeah. Just stay vigilant" Scott says giving the members of the pack a sharp look.

Lydia and Lyla stop as they look up at the banner that's in bad shape above their heads.

"This is the place." Lyla says

"The one we saw in the mirror" Lydia finishes

"I guess we should check it out then." Isaac says before walking with Lyla.

Zara is still being held by Scott so she follows him with Malia trailing next to them, she picks up a phone on the table that looks like it hadn't been touched in years, she looked over at the newspaper Scott picked up and her eyes widened at what she noticed.
