You know what you want to do, you know where to stay
But future says otherwise, and this will lead you astray
Go to places, they tell you. Live now, they say.
But regret is your fear; the unknown you will obey
You think of the people who may not even arrive
For future is your present, for future you shall strive
But one day you'll ask if you have even lived
You regret, and cry for the self you have ribbed
The regret you fear in the future became regret of the past
And the contentment you have worked for did not even last
You wake in your nightmare, and then lived in the now
To relish the present becomes your new vow
But after years of bliss, you still ended in agony
And you regretted your choices, unaccepting, painfully
The future becomes the now, the now in remorse
You ask uncertainly, has your life been truly yours?
You then wake again, and you try to picture
A way to combine the present and the future
This time you will remember a point you must not resent
The present was once future, and the future will be your present
