The light at the end of the tunnel got closer and closer as they walked further and further. They had all been traveling for what felt like forever so to finally see that they were almost out was definitely comforting. The younger kids that were in the front started running toward the light in the distance. They stopped whenever they were finally right in front of it. With big grins on their faces, they punched the air with victorious expressions. The sight was enough to make Alex smile as well.
"We did it!!" Dominic exclaimed.
"I'm just glad we didn't get lost," Alex said with a sigh of relief. It was a possibility so she was happy it didn't happen. They had managed to get closer to their destination without getting hurt and that was already an accomplishment. It wouldn't be much longer until they were finally going to arrive at B06-32.
A grin appeared on Sonju's face. He looked back at all of the older kids who stood by his side and behind him, "Right ahead, we'll rise up, and you'll be leaving the forest already. Let's rest for the night! We can proceed tomorrow." Everyone cheered with their hands in the air. It seemed like everybody else had the same thought. They'd been walking for a while, a break wasn't sounding too bad.
"This time, leave the dinner to us!" Rossi said.
Jemima pointed to the side, "Then we'll go make more medicine from herbs!"
"Sounds like a plan," Alex smiled at them, "Let's get to work!"
Yeah, Alex didn't get to help. While dinner was being made, Anna had Emma and Alex stop working so she could treat their wounds. Emma was treated first and Alex right after her. When Alex was getting treated, she could overhear the conversations that were going on. The air in the tunnel was very happy and lighthearted which she loved. Everything was going pretty well for them so far.
The feeling of people staring caught Alex's attention. She glanced over to see Mujia, Sonju, and a few of the kids watching Anna treat her. Mujika had a smile on her face as she watched, "My, these kids really do learn fast."
"This is nothing, Ray, Emma, and Alex are way faster!" Alicia stated. She had pride in her voice as she spoke of the three older kids. It was enough to make Alex smile once again today. It was nice to have someone talk about them in such a good way. Alex felt like everyone needed that person in their life who would make them feel good about themself.
Speaking of that person, Christie brought up the person who was always Alex's main supporter, "Norman was amazing, too!" Christie bringing this up caught Alex's attention. The redhead looked over at him before looking down at her hands in her lap. "One glance and baam! He was already a pro!"
