Two times. I saw her two times today. Just like the first time I met her. Two times.

"Malay mo destiny."

"Naknamputa, Aeri. Tumigil ka sa kaka-destiny mo. Hindi kami katulad ng boyfriend mo."

As soon as I got home, I called Ae to have someone to talk to. I just needed someone to talk to after seeing her.

Kasalukuyan akong nakatingin sa buwan, thinking if she would still talk to me.

"Ano ba kasing nangyari noon? Ang nasabi lang naman sa amin ni Lori is that she waited for you sa labas ng arena tapos hindi ka dumating kaya nila tinuloy ang laban. Sabi niya pa sa amin noon, muntik ma-disqualify 'yung team ninyo kasi wala ka. Buti raw to the rescue 'yung kaibigan niyo."

What really happened that day? I was packing my suitcase at that time. "I was packing my suitcase." I started while still looking at the bright moon and fidgeting with my fingers.

"That was the same day my parents told me that I was leaving to go to Japan, and I had no choice but to do so."

Narinig kong malalim na huminga si Aeri habang kausap ako. Look, I'm not taking sides here, ah. Kakakilala ko lang naman kay Lori, and I don't want to judge whatever your side of the story was.  Ang sa akin lang ngayon, maybe let each other breathe. Mabigat pakiramdam niyong dalawa."

Right. "Thanks, Ae."

"Mm. Matulog na. Tama na kaka-isip. May pasok ka pa bukas."

Tinanguhan ko siya. I was going to end the call when she started to speak again.

"Ay sandali! Sasama ka ba mag-lunch bukas sakin? Or you're going to try to make your own friends sa department mo?"

Hindi muna ako nakapagbigay ng sagot sa kanya at nag-isip. "Hindi ko alam."

Wouldn't it be awkward? "She doesn't want to see my face. What would I do?"

Nagkibit-balikat siya. "I don't know. Hindi naman kita pwedeng pabayaan eh. Pero syempre I also care for my friends' mental health. We can't handle a bugnutin Lori all day."

I laughed at her statement. "Grabe ka sakanya."

"Don't defend her like you didn't experience the whole day with her back then, tapos she's not in a good mood noon 'no."

"I did. Kaso kasi noon, pareho kaming bugnutin eh."

"Ah! Kaya siguro siya nagiging bugnutin noon kasi naiirita siya sa presensya mo."

"Masakit ka na magsalita ah!" Sinamaan ko siya ng tingin. "Pero totoo." Pag-aamin ko rin sa huli.

My freaking alarm clock rang. Gago, sakit sa tenga.

The door opened, and I saw Ate Roan peaking. "Ma'am Elie, bumaba ka na raw po. Kakain na po." Sabi ni ate Roan.

"Sige, Ate Roan, ligpitin ko lang saglit kwarto ko." Pagsasabi ko.

"Ay hindi na po. Ako na dyan, ma'am. Saluhan niyo na po si Ma'am Marie sa baba."

"Hindi, okay na, pakisabi nalang kay mommy pababa na ako."

"Sige po." Sabi nya at isinara ang pintuan.

Elie. They still call me that nickname. Even if I already reminded them countless times how I didn't want to be called Elie.

Look, Kel. This is your influence on the people I love. They still call me by the nickname you gave me.
