~ Mira's POV ~
"-and two pounds of potatoes!"
I'm cutting the cabbage and Alistair is tightening his laces. I look over and watch him struggle. I sigh and put a hand on my hip."If your shoes don't fit you anymore I can make you another pair or buy some, you need to tell me if things don't fit you anymore. You're growing too fast for your clothes to keep up Al."
I walk over with hands on my hips and stare at him. He sheepishly smiles and waves his hands, shaking his head."It's alright Mira! I'm perfectly fine! I'd prefer them to get totally worn out then I'll let you." He grabs the small pouch from the table by the door and kisses my forehead, waving as he heads out the door.
"Three bags of flour, one bag of sugar, two stalks of parsley and two pounds of potatoes! I'll be back in time for lunch!" He pats the horse whom greets him with huff. I scoff, leaning on the door frame and watch as he smiles, waving. That horse hates him.
"Be careful!!!" I yell right before he begins to ride off. Al flings his hat in circular motions in the air and I sigh, closing the door behind me while I continue to cut the once ignored vegetable on the counter.

I'm poking the fire when I hear hooves clicking on the gravel and I rush over as they sound hurried.
"Woah woah! It's okay! Good girl...." I greet the lonely horse and look around behind her. Why is he.....is he trying to joke?
"Al?! Alistair! If you're trying to be funny then you're not eating lunch much less dinner!!!" I look at the contents of the horses luggage and find everything that I needed. Everything's here so why isn't Al...? I gather my skirt in a hand and run into the direction the old horse came through and begin looking for the little rascal who thinks he's funny.
"Alistair!!"
Why am I getting so frantic? Why am I panicking for a boy I just give a place to live in? It's not like I care....then why-I hear a small noise coming from the side of path and look over to find Al collapsed, wincing and staggering his breath. I gasp, rushing over and hit him on the head before checking his injuries.
"Alistair! You idiot! You should've at least rode on the damn horse back and tried to stay on." He rubs his head and wearily looks up at me. I avoid his stare by looking at his injuries. He's been stabbed and....and beaten!
"I'm sorry Mira. I tried not to lash out! It's just that...they said gruesome things. I absolutely loathe them!" I listen as he curses "them" out under his breath. I roll my eyes and sigh, lifting the growing boy and almost struggling as he also struggles to pick up his own weight.
"Who said what?"
My words linger as the silence wanders in. He blinks towards the floor, ignoring my question. We stagger along and walk inside. I lean a hand on the table and watch as he inhaled and exhales. Damn Al-he's avoided eye contact and ignoring me! I can hear his gulp as he tries to clear his throat."Who said what, Alistair?"
He clears his throat once more, loudly this time. He blinks and glares at the floor as if it was it's fault for not speaking. Al sighs and taps the table with his bloody fingers."The villagers, they-Why do you want to know Mira?"
He watches me as I scoff, is this idiot serious- I grab a cloth from the table and fling it at him."Because you made it so important, coming home all bloody and cursing out fire as if someone declared war on you!"
Al catches the cloth and stammers. I turn around and fill a bowl with water putting it next to him on the table. I grab some ointments, while placing them on the table and snatch the cloth from his hand."You tell me now or I will go into the village and find out myself."
His eyes widen in surprise and tilts his head to match mine."You've never gone into the village! Much less out of this forest! Ever since I was a little kid I've never seen you wander out of here."
He makes a sudden noise as I rip the shirt off him and look at the wound closer. This one's going to scar. Shouldn't be a problem, he's always scarring himself up. I wet the cloth and pat his wound as he gasps."Well maybe I should then shouldn't I? Tell me what they said Al."
He wearily looks at me and frowns before looking away. I watch as his freckled tan face is filled with emotions he's never shown before."They said that you are a freak.....that you're not human....."
