James sat at his normal spot in the great hall, picking at his breakfast. He was sort of registering the conversation around him, but wasn't really paying attention. He had a lot on his mind recently. He didn't know what was going on with him. All he really knew was that he was definitely not feeling normal. Suddenly, James felt someone snap in front of his eyes. He blinked and jerked back a little bit to find that Sirius had snapped in his face.

"Oi, what is it?" James asked.

"I was trying to get your attention. You kind of zoned out." Sirius replied.

"Yeah, are you feeling ok?" Remus asked.

"Yeah, yeah I'm fine." James said.

"Hey, look out. Evans 10 o'clock." Peter said quietly pointing behind James. James turned slightly to see Lily and her friends walking down the hallway towards him.

"Morning, Evans." James said before turning around again.

"Morning, Potter. How are you this morning?" Lily asked, stopping behind James. James turned around slightly again.

"Oh, yeah I'm fine thanks, and you?" James asked.

"Yeah I'm doing good, see you in Potions." Lily said, walking away. James didn't really respond, just kinda hummed quietly. He turned back to his friends to see them staring at him wide eyed.

"What?" James asked.

"Um, that was Lily Evans. The girl you've had a crush on for years, and you didn't even smile at her." Sirius said.

"Yeah, he's definitely not feeling well." Remus said.

"Look, I'm feeling fine, okay? I'm just tired." James said. That was true. He hadn't been getting a lot of sleep lately, his mind just wouldn't stop running. His friends seemed to have dropped the subject and went back to their conversation about whatever they were talking about. James looked up from his plate and looked across the hall to the slytherin table. He saw Regulus Black sitting there. Just eating his food and talking to his friends. James couldn't help noticing how cute he looked. He had a really defined jawline. I mean, he could grate cheese on his jawline. James didn't even notice he was staring until he saw Regulus turn his head in his direction. He quickly looked away and focused all of his concentration on the eggs on his plate. James didn't dare look up for the rest of breakfast, afraid to catch Regulus's eye. Once breakfast was over, he quickly got up and started walking to his first class with his friends as if nothing was wrong. Ah, if only he knew. As James was walking down the hallway, he felt a glare in his eye. Like a bright light that only he could see. He looked around and saw Regulus standing in the corner with a mirror in his hand, smirking. James furrowed his eyebrows and tilted his head, trying to ask Regulus what he was doing. Regulus just smiled and beckoned him over. James looked over at the other Marauders and then back at Regulus. Before he could think about what he was doing, he started walking towards Regulus.

"Oi, James what are you doing?" Sirius asked.

"Uh.. I forgot something in the dorm, I'll catch up with you." James called back. Sirius gave a slightly concerned look before shrugging and walking down the other hallway. Regulus smirked again and disappeared down the other hallway. James furrowed his eyebrows and walked a little faster as he rounded the corner into the other hallway. The hallway was dark, no lights on or windows open. This was just even more confusing, because James was sure that there were windows in this hallway, and classrooms. Then, James heard a strange sound, sort of like a low rumbling noise. It was almost like it was surrounding him. It was coming from all the walls and he could almost feel the hallway shaking. He was about to just leave Regulus here and try to get out when suddenly, everything stopped and the room went quiet. It was still pitch black, but at least James was sure he wasn't in the middle of an earthquake. Then, he heard footsteps. They were very quiet, but definitely there. Suddenly, a window opened and the room was flooded with bright light, and there stood Regulus Black. James' mouth went dry and he gulped.
