In case you need a reminder, underlined messages = chat.

you know how i said the others who came along weren't important? well screw that. also screw pre-decided plots, oh and while i'm at it, screw the watchers

i may or may not have named the big watcher kyle just so i didn't have to keep calling him "the giant Watcher"

Also, the Watchers are kinda like shadowy figures with real wings coming out of where their back would be. Like, if you've ever watched the Hobbit movies, kinda like the Necromancer but with giant purple feathery wings. sorta like this: (but add wings and make them like ten feet tall)

----| Scar's POV |---

Xisuma dragged False out of the tower. Stress picked up Grian gently and followed. Scar trailed after her along with Iskall and Cleo, who had also come. He messaged Xisuma.

GoodTimesWithScar: X what about mumbo

Xisuma: we need to get grian safely home then we come back for mumbo

GoodTimesWithScar: you sure? i dont like leaving him

Xisuma: if you wanna try to rescue him on your own i cant really do anything to stop you

Xisuma: but pls dont

ZombieCleo: you typing while flying x? thats not safe

Xisuma: ok but scar be careful

"Are you two up for trying to rescue Mumbo?" Scar asked Cleo and Iskall.

They each took up a position behind Scar, swords drawn. He took that as a yes.

"I'm being really kind today, but I will give you a chance to leave before I smite you," the giant Watcher said.

"We're calling him Kyle," whispered Iskall from behind Scar. Scar didn't question.

"All we want is to ask you a few questions, sir," Scar said.

"I suppose I could put up with a few," Kyle answered. "Very well."

"Why do you want our friend? Not the bird-" Scar winced at talking about Grian like this- "but the other one?"

"Oh, him? Well, I'll even tell you why I needed the bird! I'm in such a good mood today! I wanted the bird because I've been testing how animals react to magic. Then I moved on to mobs. And then I wanted to test a hybrid, because it's a mix, a good transition from animal to player. Finally, I need a player to test my magic on so that I can work out any imperfections in my spell before I begin my final plan!"

Had False been there, she would have charged Kyle. As it was, Scar, usually so calm and level- headed, could barely keep from attacking him. The way Kyle saw Grian... Scar couldn't even think about it.

"What kind of testing are you doing on our friend?" Scar asked.

"Same as I did with the bird and the mobs and the other animals, blood tests, magic resistance, the usual." Kyle said uncaringly.

Scar could feel that he was almost ready to burst with rage, but he asked one final question.

"Would you give us our friend once you're done with your tests?"

"I gave you the bird because it was useless. The player is very much useful." Kyle told him. "My patience is gone! Out, now!"

"We're not your servants," Cleo spoke up.

"And we never play by anyone's rules," added Iskall.

In silent agreement, the three hermits charged.

For almost anyone else, it would have been suicide. But Scar was able to protect his friends with magic, and managed to imbue their swords with magic that would allow them to hurt the Watchers.

As soon as they decided to attack, Kyle flew out of the room to let two of his servants deal with the hermits.

"I'll take Nasty, you two take Junior," Scar yelled. Junior was indeed small, smaller than any other Watcher Scar had seen, but still taller than Scar by a lot.

Scar aimed for Nasty's wings, slicing them into shreds. Nasty screeched whenever Scar landed a hit. Finally, Nasty gave up, flying after Kyle out of the room. Junior recieved the same treatment from Cleo and Iskall.

The three followed the fleeing Watchers. Finally, they heard Mumbo's screams echoing down the hallway. They followed the sound, finally entering a quartz room that looked extremely like a lab. Various medical equipment was around the room, along with notepads and computers. (Don't ask how they have computers, just don't) In the center was a large table. It was probably quartz, but it was stained maroon. Chained to the table by his wrists and ankles was a familiar face.

"Mumbo!" yelled Cleo. "Oh... whoops," she added when all six of the Watchers in the room turned to them.

However, they were not fighters, and the sight of three players, holding magically enhanced swords, glaring menacingly at them while covered in purple feathers and a surprising lack of blood made them think twice. The three leaped up onto the table and easily broke the chains with the help of some of Scar's magic. Before the Watchers had time to realize what was going on, Iskall and Cleo picked up Mumbo together, and the three ran out of the room, down the hallway, and jumped off the tower, engaging their elytra.

"How do you two manage to move so perfectly in sync?" asked Scar as they landed on the End stone ground.

"Practice," Cleo said. "Don't ask." Pulling a rope from her inventory, she tied Mumbo securely to Iskall. Scar strengthened Iskall's elytra and endurance with a bit of magic, and the three were on their way home with their friends.
