Y/N first person pov
As I felt my eyes slowly open up, I found myself tied to a chair, with the exact cane I was smacked in the head with. At least it was a comfortable chair, like at the dentists.
Thank the saints I didn't feel anyone touch my mouth. Heck, no thank you.
"Knock knock," someone slowly opened the door, making a squeaky sound.
I wasn't even aware that there was a door here in the first place. I guess you do learn something new every day.
"How many times have I told you to get a new door? But you just gambled away the money again, didn't you, Jesper?" Another voice whispered.
"How many times do I have to say this? The money ran away from me, I didn't gamble it away," Jesper said.
"Mhm, totally," a third voice appeared. "Do you have the goat?"
"His name is Milo," I trembled at Jesper's tone. "And yes, he's waiting in the corridor."
"You left Milo alone in the corridor?" The third voice said. "If he messes up my carpets, I'll—."
"You'll do what, your ex-royal highness?" The second voice said. "You're not royalty anymore. Nikolai, do I need to remind you that you lost the goat war?"
"Fine, I did lose against the goats, Inej, but I'm not letting them pee all over my carpets! Not when I had these designed specifically for this house! Also, I'm not giving up on the war just yet."
Looks like I'm in the presence of royalty, and his first impression of me is going to be me tied up in a chair. As if my life couldn't get any more interesting.
I felt some dust enter my nose. I couldn't hold it in any longer, so I sneezed.
The three heads turned to me, suddenly quiet. Did I do something wrong or was I that hideous?
I really hoped it was neither of these options because I try to not make a mess of things. Also, I liked my silver eyes and raven black hair. Mother said I got my good looks from my father.
"So this is the lost daughter of—?" Nikolai said, but whispered the last part, so I couldn't hear it. "Shall we tell her?"
Inej gave Nikolai a look.
"What if she behaves unexpectedly? Kaz won't be happy if we lose our target." She said.
"I can hear you guys. You know that, right?" I said, kind of sad that they were ignoring me, yet talking about me at the same time. It would've been nice to have someone to talk to after many hours of sitting in silence all alone.
"I'll tell her," Jesper decided.
What he said next hit me like another cane in the head.
"You're a grisha, Y/N," he said. "And if we're correct on who your father is, you're a danger to us and all of Ravka."
