~Y/N's POV~

I stood facing my brother.
To others, this might be a simple competition, meaning barely anything, but we always took these seriously when facing each other.

I'm not sure about him... but to me, this is a way of proving to myself I'm enough. I don't need to be perfect because I'm good enough just the way I am.

This is a way to prove to our parents that there's no such thing as perfect, perfection is nothing if you aren't enjoying life. Yet... why do I care about what they think so much?

I can't help but think I'm... Useless. Pathetic. Worthless. I snap back to reality. I don't know why, but all I could do was look at my brother in disgust. I said I don't blame him... but I can't help but feel envious of him.

I hate how he gets the love he deserves yet denies it and pushes them away, while I'm here trying my best to make our parents even the slightest proud of me.

I may not have been born a prodigy like him but I'm trying. I truly was. It took me days and nights of non stop practice and studying to get even near the same level as him. While he barely had to do anything.

I look at him in the eyes. I had tuned everything out. I notice him talking and read his lips as he mouthed something he had said a long time ago.

"You're nothing but a failure"

I grit my teeth, he may be on my side, but that wasn't always the case. That's the reason he hadn't helped me a long time ago, why he'd do nothing as my screams would echo in the loud mansion.

————————————☀︎       [Thirds Person POV]

The H/C haired girl tried her best to keep her screams in as her father mercilessly beat her up but she couldn't take the pain much longer. Her body, black and blue. To her, this had become a normal almost daily thing.

She didn't understand why they hated her so at the time. All she knew was... she wanted them to show her the same love they showed her brother.

As much as she tried to love him, she couldn't help but despise her dear brother. To her, he was ungrateful. She didn't blame him for what she was going through though.

While she was being beat up, the older male child sat in his room. Reading a book about the economy and how to create a proper business.

He adored his sister. But he couldn't help but be envious of her. Since she didn't have her parents attention 24/7, she could do almost anything. To him, she was free.
