romantic Droey angst taken in form of a lazy poem + my take on their relationship i guess
inspo taken from a bunch of things, some being the idiom killing two birds with one stone and the myth of icarus
Two birds,
You and I
Perched over thrones of gold,
Gleaming under the Sun.
Over a burning crowd of none other
Than ones who couldn't reach
The sky.
The sky's the limit.
But one day
We are all destined to fall,
Aren't we?
I had a taste of royalty.
A taste of drunken pride,
Smothered by the thick blanket
Of the clouds.
Shame.
I couldn't breathe.
Couldn't breathe under the altitude,
Did you know
Air thins the higher you reach?
The view from the summit
Is beautiful.
Was beautiful.
But I must close my blinded eyes
And my singed wings,
Let me take the fall
From glory to grief.
Let me taste once again
The air below,
Among the fallen, the weak,
The tang of guilt,
Much less concealed
When everyone around you
Lets you hear it every day.
Their mocking melodies
Pierce my eardrums,
Cheater! Cheater! Cheater!
It's off-key,
But perfect.
Two birds,
You and I
We were not so different, weren't we?
I'm sorry, for I must do this
Not just for your sake,
But for mine.
For I can't bring myself to hurt you,
Again and again.
Hatred is a scorching fire
Apparent in the eyes
Of those who loved.
Of those who lost.
I only hope when I look up
Your taunting gaze won't burn.
Enjoy the summit.
All I ask
Is for you not to fall.
Not to fall into the vain stupor
I lost you over.
was gonna write a breakup scene with screaming and dialogue but then i thought, but what about metaphors, here we are
(the ending's a bit underwhelming but i didn't really know how to close it off)
