The screen started up again and they watched as Wei WuXian got dragged by the servants towards the East Hall. Wei WuXian's first thoughts that something must've gone wrong with the flag formation. His inventions needed to be used carefully (he would know for multiple reasons) or else disasters could happen. This was another reason he checked the flags earlier.
Lan SiZhui and Lan JingYi stood up. A few other Lan disciples from that day stood up, all of them bowing to Wei WuXian in thanks. The demonic cultivator laughed, waving his hand and motioning them to sit back down.
As he was dragged into the East Hall, Wei WuXian found it crowded. All of the servants were there pale faced and looking solemn. The Lan disciples were huddled in a group, while Madam Mo was looking hysterical. But the moment she saw Wei WuXian, her face grew hateful.
"You didn't even do anything though!" Nie Huaisang complained.
Wei WuXian then noticed the corpse on the ground. The Lan disciples were speaking about and the conversation leaked into his ears. Apparently this corpse was none other than Mo ZiYuan. Wei WuXian's eyebrow twitched. The life was sucked out of the arrogant brat, only identifiable by the birthmark on his face.
As he was examining the corpse, Madam Mo dashed towards him a dagger in her hand.
"A-Xian!" Jiang Yanli yelled fearfully and Wei WuXian didn't even process before he was suddenly holding her tight.
Jiang Cheng and Jin ZiXuan, who were on either side of Jiang Yanli, jumped. Jiang Yanli looked at him and Wei WuXian blurted out, "Just- don't move! I know its a screen but- but-"
Jiang Cheng understood and his voice cracked slightly, "Nightless city,"
Wei WuXian flinched and Jiang Yanli gasped, pulling her brother close and patting his head soothingly, "I'm here, don't worry,"
Wei WuXian nodded, but didn't move from the embrace.
Lan SiZhui rushed forward, protecting Wei WuXian by stopping Madam Mo and knocking the dagger away. Before he could speak, she screamed, "My son died a tragic death, I'm only avenging him, why are you stopping me!?"
Wei WuXian peeked out from behind Lan SiZhui, "What does your son's tragic death have to do with me?"
'I literally did nothing!!!'
Lan SiZhui had seen the scene from the East Hall earlier and heard the rumors, he couldn't help but feel bad for Mo XuanYu and take his side. Calmly, he spoke, "Madam Mo, seeing your sons condition, this was done by evil beings, not him,"
Wei WuXian snorted in his head, 'Kid, I am an evil being,'
"No, you're not!" The four juniors yelled and Wei WuXian shot up, covering his ears, "Ow! Okay, don't have to shout! I'm sensitive!"
"Really?" Wen Qing sneered from behind and Wei WuXian stuck a tongue out at her.
"You know nothing! This lunatic's father was a cultivator, he must've learned a bunch of demonic spells from him!" Madam Mo heaved.
